I had the privilege of working with Dan. He was a good man and a great mailman. He truly cared about his customers and did his job with pride. The last time I saw Dan was on valentine's day of 2018 just before his retirement. I got to spend the day with him doing the annual route inspection for his final time. I teased him that Kathy would be jealous of him spending valentines day with another woman. We laughed over that. We chatted about his family. He was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren and more than happy to talk about them. He gave me encouragement for the knee replacement that I was to have the following month. He was a gentleman and bought me an egg salad sandwich and shared his chips for lunch at The Midway which he had on speed dial for ordering lunch. He was truly one of the best and will be missed by many. We need more Hooks Schmitts in this world.....my sincerest condolences to all of his loved ones. May all of the many wonderful memories you have together get you through this difficult time.
