Danny’s Story

Site created on June 12, 2018

I was diagnosed with stage 3B multiple myeloma cancer on 2/26/18 (yes, my daughter's birthday). Multiple myeloma is classified by stage 1, 2, or 3. In multiple myeloma cases, stage 3 is the terminal stage. The average survival rate for stage 3 multiple myeloma is 29 months. However, Stem Cell Therapy - including Bone Marrow Transplant, are helping to increase the survival rate. I was recently accepted to and admitted at the City of Hope in Duarte, CA on (Father's Day) 6/17/18. I have a journey ahead and want to share it with each of you. Thank you everyone for your support!

Journal entry by Danny Cowan

Another day, another day of meds.

I want to give a special shout out to Heather, Denise and Deby for being my caregivers while I am here at City of Hope and to my loving and amazing daughter Deanna, whom I love to the moon and back, for keeping us all organized.  Now back to trying to drink and eat... nah ..think I will sleep for a while while this body grows its white count and plateletts
