Daniel’s hernia repair went well! He is currently recovering in an inpatient room. It sounds like there were no hiccups during the procedure. The contents of his hernia were placed back into his abdominal cavity, and then a mesh was implanted to prevent a hernia from reoccurring. Unfortunately, the largest risk associated with this surgery is a hernia reoccurring. The risk is very low though. It’s important to rest and take it easy to avoid any complications. The surgeon said he probably will be really sore as they had to pull his abdominal muscles back into place. He currently has a wound vacuum over his incision. They went through the same incision placed during his failed liver transplant. Apparently I’m going to need to learn how to work Dan’s wound vac, so wish me luck 😅. Depending on how Daniel recovers, he will be here a couple days or more. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers!
