Daniel’s Story

Site created on February 29, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Friday, February 28th, our daughter in law Gaby called to say she had rushed Daniel to the emergency room.  He was experiencing an extreme headache, hand tremors, "lost words", and blurred vision.  After getting a CT scan, they reported that he has a "mass" on the left frontal lobe of his brain, 5 1/2 centermeters!   At midnight, he was transferred via ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He was given anti-seizure medication, and a steroid to reduce swelling of the tumor.  He rested thru the night and at 5:30 a.m. had an MRI.  The wonderful neurologist explained his condition to us, stating the mass is a "level One"... and that it has to be removed.  Since it is Saturday and Daniel is not experiencing the conditions at the moment, he is going to do the surgery on Monday or Tuesday.

All week, I have been fervently praying for our friends son, Nathan Lewis who got in an accident that left him with a head injury and in a coma... praying for his parents who must surely be going through living hell... as I drove to the hospital at 12:30 a.m. I couldn't help thinking that now WE are those parents!  Stricken with unbelief, feeling like this is just a bad nightmare, and praying until our hearts can cry out groans!

Dear friends and family, we need your prayers!  Pray that Daniel will rest well in the hospital until surgery (I know he is already antsy!).  Pray that he feels the peace of Jesus now and throughout this ordeal.  Pray for healing as the doctors surgically remove the tumor.  Pray the tumor is not cancerous.

Please, leave your comments of encouragement for Daniel, Gaby, Steve, Sara, and Mark and I.  We love you, and we trust in the One who is able to do all things...

Journal entry by Terri Waldorf

Good news coming from this week from a meeting with Daniel's oncologist and radiologist, analyzing his most recent MRI. According to both doctors, the enhancement layer surrounding the tumor is practically non existent! This was the irritation that started after radiation treatment. On top of that, the actual tumor itself shrank a little as well! Both doctors were very pleased with the results and are looking forward to the next brain scan, three months from now. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts, it means the world to Daniel & Gaby, and our families. We will continue to keep you posted as we move through the final four chemotherapy treatments.
