Journal entry by Daniel Hurwitz —
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for visiting this site and supporting Dan as he weathers these life storms. Thanks to Sue and Chip for suggesting that we start reporting progress on this site. I say storms because that's what it feels like. It's windy, rainy and unpredictable lots of sunny days between the storms. I want you all to know how much he loves his family and friends and how your support through the diagnosis and starting of treatment has allowed him to sail through so far. He is at Providence Hospital as I write, getting his first chemo treatment. The oncologist loved his signed shoes. and Dan was quite proud to tell him the story of how they came to be. He just called me and told me that they've given him lots to read, and not enough food. He wants me to bring him a sandwich when I come and pick him up. Due to Covid restraints I can not be there with him while he gets his treatment. This first treatment will be given slowly just to be careful. He will get one does today and one tomorrow. Then again at the beginning of November and December. Then we start phase two.
I know this is hard to see our sweet Dan have to go through this, but as Michael V . pointed out, weeks ago, this is an experience that teaches you more about yourself than you can imagine. Dan told me that he has never had a community as loving as this one. He absolutely adores Rachel, Sean, Elizabeth, Tim and his new grand daughter. He also loves Dan, Sara, Anna, the Nates, Breanna, and the grandchildren. Hearing from any of you is like putting fuel in his tank. Thank you!
