Journal entry by Natalie Schnell —
Well, Curtis is doing great and unless something changes he will head home next Wednesday, March 2nd, after 72 days in the hospital with half of those days spent on a Ventilator!!
Curtis had his Peg tube removed on Tuesday and is down to 1 liter of oxygen and when walking is only going down to 87 percent saturation. He quickly rebounds when he rests. His cough is minimal and the doctors said he sounds good and his breathing sounds good. He also tried to stand today without a walker.
His days are pretty busy with several hours of Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy. When I saw him on Monday (before the crazy weather!!!) he was walking at a really good pace. He is ready to run on out the door and get home.
We praise God for the blessing he has given us. So many prayers have been heard and answered. After 72 long days Curtis will see his home, hug his kids, see his pets, and sleep in his own bed. It seemed doubtful at times this would ever happen but we kept praying and we kept encouraging him even when he couldn’t respond and I believe that our prayers were powerful and his will was powerful, and God saw that we were faithful and performed this miracle. We are all so grateful. 🙏🏻
