Journal entry by Crystal Dervetski —
After my news on the 23rd, I'm happy to say that I am finally getting back to normal, and heading back to work tomorrow, February 13th!!
This means it's been 5 months round trip from diagnosis to recovery and success.
The last five months have been the absolute worst of my life. Including my own health issues and a brutal recovery from surgery, I lost two friends within a single week. I haven't ever had to deal with so much physically and emotionally in such a short time span.
I am definitely coming out the other side of this a brand new person. I am coming out of this with an all new appreciation for the people who were actually there for me, and those who supported Vic and I. I am coming back with new friends, and closeness with old friends that is so much more special and reverent. I am coming back knowing first hand how fragile life is, and how quickly life can change.
So please know, it's not the same "me" coming back, and that I can never be the same. But I'm glad to be back and so extremely humbled and grateful.
