Journal entry by Shannon Ward

This book is finished...as the bittersweet day came yesterday for Mom to have her last treatment, have her port removed and say goodbye to the Angel nurses that have been by her side every 3 weeks for each treatment, giving her the support she needed to be a warrior! These people became family, and mom knows the best way to show your family you love them is to bake for them! She treated her nurses to beautiful cookies to represent the sweet end of this journey!

Going forward, Mom will meet with her oncologist every 3 months and have a repeat mammogram in August. In between we will continue to pray for her good health.

Mom and Dad plan to celebrate this journey tonight with a night on the town and we will celebrate as a family later this spring by placing a bell on Roswell’s Bridge of Hope.

It’s hard to know God’s plan for us or why he puts us on the roads he does. I do know that this test has brought us closer together. It has shown us what is important in life. Going forward, I know that we are all going to be kinder, more patient, and let the little things go because in the long run, they really don’t matter!

We won’t ever have the chance to thank everyone personally for each playing a role in helping our Mom find strength in this difficult journey. But we know without each of you, this would’ve never been possible! So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

She won’t say it, but we will...Mom is a warrior and a survivor, but most importantly, she kicked cancer’s a**!!

Love always,
Sam, Crystal, Meg, Jake, Derek, Peyton & Shannon
