Cristol’s Story

Site created on July 3, 2018

On June 22, 2018, Cristol was involved in a 4 wheeler accident in the Dominican Republic (her home at the time) while in her driveway.  She was a passenger on a friend's 4 wheeler that appears to have had something go wrong.  The exact cause of the accident is unknown, as neither the driver nor Cristol have been able to recollect the event.   Cristol and Jeff, as well as many other people in the area use 4 wheelers as a form of transportation rather than an automobile.  The terrain is rugged and difficult to navigate.

The accident resulted in a spinal cord injury to Cristol's C4 and C5 vertebrae.  This is very serious as this area determines many functions of our body.  She has undergone one surgery thus far to place screws in her vertebrae.  Cristol has no health insurance.  The doctor's prognosis is that Cristol will never walk again.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Shelly Easley

Not a big update. I just wanted to share a better photo of Cristol’s new permanent wheels. With the movement in her left arm, she’s able to control the chair using a joystick. The new freedom and independence has been awesome :)
