Site created on July 2, 2021

On May 4, 2021, I was diagnosed with Langerhans Cells Histiocytosis, a rare blood cancer. I am using this site to keep you all updated in one place and raise awareness about this disease. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Cristiana Di Menna

Ending the year with a bang is my thing. I love NYE. We would always have a party and the midnight balloon drop became a ritual. This year everything was different, again. We are all celebrating seperately. Nothing crazy. But because there is always something to spice up my day, I needed a visit to the ER on December 31,2021.
The day before, I felt like the smaller incision on the 2 I had for the port install was very itchy. I then noticed a little bump on it. I assumed it was just healing. On the 31, when I woke up and looked, the full scar had a white bubble film over it. I sent my nurse friend a picture and she advised it looked infected. Oncology was closed, therefore ER it was. Luckily, I saw a dr within 2h. He drained it (quite a bit of puss he said), prescribed some antibiotics and off I went.

Happy New Year!
