Craig’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On March 14, Craig was rushed to the hospital after suffering (what we believe to be) a seizure. The MRI showed that he had/has a large brain tumor.

Over the last couple of weeks prior to this he had been quieter than usual and lethargic. He also did a few things here and there that were unusual but not alarming (only now in hindsight do I see where they could have been attributed to the tumor). I had tried several times to get him to go to the doctor but thought we were dealing with depression or anemia because he was always tired.

On March 15, Craig had surgery. The tumor is on the left side of his brain in his speech area. Unfortunately some of the tumor is surrounding arteries and therefore the surgeon could only remove 80% of it as there was too great a risk Craig would have a stroke if he got too close to the arteries.

The tumor is a glioblastoma. I have seen a few different things regarding the survival rate but the surgeon said with treatment 50% live beyond 14 months. With no treatment it is likely a matter of months. Craig has age on his side and also great general heath. However we also know he still has some of the "original" tumor still in his brain.

Sorry for the multiple posts.
It would help me if you would share remembrances of Craig in the comments or reach out to me directly (email, messenger, text). I know some of you have already shared some, thank you.
This will help me for writing the obituary and other aspects of the funeral. I may print them out and have displayed at reception. You will also have a chance to share remembrances verbally if that is your preference.
Thank you.
