I feel compelled to play Mother Hen for a moment...have you told the doctor about the allergy issue? I know that in the past for me when my allergies act up it can turn into a sinus infection.
Also, you should probably talk to someone with the transplant house about your pest problem. I'm certain that they could be a major bacteria source, and who knows what sort of illnesses that elephant could be carrying.
