Journal entry by Connie's Kids

On dec 16th our mom Connie went into a doctor's appointment after not feeling well for a few days. She was told she had the flu and was sent home with a prescription and told to use a nebulizer. She was diagnosed with the flu but was never tested for the flu. Throughout the remainder of the day she got much worse unable to walk and unable to even move. She layed on the couch crying because it was hard to breathe. After stopping over to her place instantly i knew something was not ok. After begging her to go in yet she wouldn't because the doctor just informed her she was ok,Its just the flu. Dec 17th after only getting worse she was brought to Mercy  by ambulance and once arriving she was sent to the waiting room where she waited for hours to be seen. At this time we reached out to hospital doctor and nurses urging and begging for them to do a chest xray because we knew it wasn't the flu . we told them that this is exactly what happened when she had pnemounia. Our thoughts and pleas to just find out the real cause shot down as getting told " we appreciate your opinions but lets leave this decision up to the ones with a degree" . Told them we didnt need a degree to know our mom and something is wrong. Yet again she was sent home with new meds and told to use her nebulizer . she continued to decline rapidly. Then Dec 18th she was back in the hospital unable to breathe properly with low oxygen levels. She was admitted and quickly we found out she had pnemounia and a blood infection and would be staying till Monday the 23rd. She laid in bed only getting worse and still unable to breathe without crying in pain it was unbearable she was suffering and for some reason just dismissed and given Tylenol for pain. She hadn't been able to eat in days she was almost a purple grayish color and now on max oxygen unable to maintain her oxygen levels on her own.  Days passed she still laid in bed miserable unable to talk because it was pretty much impossible without gasping for air. She cried and cried we never got real answers as to how long she would suffer amd what happens next. On Dec 25th sje was moved to the ICU because she now had blood clots in her lungs and aorta. While waiting to find out the next steps as to what they would do as far as treatment, she declined still suffering no healing. Nothing was helping our mom there was absolutely no progress. Here we are today Dec 26th and we got the worst news it shattered our hearts and all of us her kids had to face reality that mom is in the stages of "Fighting for her Life". She was placed on a ventilator she had become to weak she couldn't do it anymore on her own. The ventilator at this time is doing 100 percent of keeping her alive . When we thought it couldn't get worse, we got the results back that she does indeed have SEPSIS. She will be having a feeding tube placed tomorrow morning . For the next couple days it will just be nothing but uncertainty as we stand by our mom hoping that a miracle happens and she comes to. At this moment she is in critical condition , even with the ventilator her O2 levels remain low and have been unable to reach a level that is anything better than "critical". We her kids will keep everyone posted through here with updates as we get them.We all hold strong for our mom ,our friend, the grandmother to our kids.. Shes really our everything. She is currently at Mercy Hospital in coon rapids MN in the ICU
