Newest Update

Journal entry by Courtney Frock

For anyone still following, I wanted to give a final update.  Conner was discharged from the hospital on Wed, 8/14, exactly 10 days after he was admitted. We were able to fly Conner home to Kansas City that afternoon and although the traveling wore him out, it couldn't have been a better experience! Finally being home that evening made up for the long day. We were greeted by family and some of Conner's buddies from high school dropped over to see him that evening. It was such a warm and humbling homecoming!

Thursday morning, Conner had an appointment with his family doctor who is helping to coordinate the necessary specialists he'll need to see in the coming weeks.  The sutures were removed from his ankle laceration and his blood pressure was finally down to normal--yay!  Next week he has appointments with a concussion specialist, and a surgeon who will monitor everything as Conner heals. He still has staples in his abdomen that will need to come out next week, and he can't get up out of a chair or bed by himself yet. But I know it's only a matter of time (days?) before he has that conquered as well. He still can only tolerate small amounts of food at a time, but his taste buds have returned so I imagine his appetite won't be far behind. His broken ribs, clavicle, and sternum still hurt a lot if he moves wrong and he still walks pretty gingerly. But all in all, he amazes us everyday!

We feel so blessed and grateful to have Conner home with us! He'll have to take it easy the next few weeks and months, but he will make a full recovery! Thank you to everyone who has cared, cried and prayed with us!  Love to you all!
