Clara Jeaninne’s Story

Site created on August 13, 2021

On August 11, 2021 Clara was admitted to the hospital due to worsening symptoms of COVID-19. Clara was quickly moved to the ICU as her condition rapidly  worsened. She is currently on a ventilator fighting to get well, so she can get back home. We all know that Clara is a fighter and that her strength lies in Christ(Phil 4:13). We ask for continued prayer for healing, comfort and peace for Clara and our family. We will do our very best to keep her community updated on her journey through this page.

Journal entry by Letitia Moore

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to update everyone on our Mama's progress, and I know its been awhile since I posted. My siblings and I have been solely focusing on Moms care since she was discharged from the hospital,  and it was also time for me to travel back home early this week. Mama was admitted to a transitional care facility for rehabilitation following her discharge from the hospital. While there the therapy teams are working with her on physical, occupational and cognitive therapy. This therapy will not only help her with strength and conditioning, but also with some of the brain fog she experiences due to her length of stay in the ICU. She is doing very well in all of these areas and has significantly increased the distance she is able to walk without resting each day as well as scooting herself around in her wheelchair. She says her legs have gotten too skinny (LOL) and this is helping her strengthen her legs.  She still gets winded with activity and this improvement will take some time, even outside of rehab, before it gets better. This has been discouraging for her to hear, some of you may remember that our Mama's brain has always wanted to move faster than what her body is ready for. We have continued to encourage and remind her of all she has overcome on this journey, and that this continues to be a marathon and not a race. Her therapy team is not expecting her to be at the facility very long because of how well she is doing. This makes her happy because she absolutely hates feeling like she's in a nursing home. It breaks our heart every time we have to leave the facility, but we know this is a necessary stop on her journey. We have received a lot of calls and texts from family and friends who would like to visit her and uplift her spirits. We want to thank each of you for reaching out, however at this time Mama has expressed that she is not ready for visits just yet and she would like to wait until she is able to be at home. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. She still has a lot of healing to do, but we are eternally grateful that God is continuing to heal and restore her body.

Please Stay Safe,

Tisha
