Journal entry by Crys Melton —
Claire went back to MSK, as scheduled, April 1st. Grandpa was her servant this go-round.
Claire was able to have her full treatment this visit. That’s five consecutive days of Irinoteca/temozolamide (traditional chemo) and then the staggered days Naxitimab (monoclonal antibody treatment). This cycle was done WITHOUT the GM-CSF.
Claire handled treatment pretty well. Her numbers dropped but not outside what is expected with treatment.
Claire is home for just a few short weeks before
SHE GETS TO GO FIND MOANA!
Claire, Blake, Kate, Troy, and their parents are finally getting to cash in Claire’s Make-a-Wish!
The family leaves for a Hawaiian getaway on April 28th! Grandparents are making their way as well. This family needs this vacation so much. Cancer takes toll on everyone around, not just the one with the diagnosis.
I can’t wait for all of those happy updates!
After that trip, Claire will return to MSK May 8th with the tentative plan to do another cycle just like the last one. Before that commences, she is scheduled to have a PET scan. This will give very valuable information on the actual state of Claire’s neuroblastoma. Since the three spots were still present and persistent after treatment, the PET will show if the cancer is currently active. This will help shape what treatment looks like both short and long term.
Thank you all for continuing to follow along and for your support.
