Journal entry by chrissy smith

Well, "third times a charm".  We went to the clinic on Tuesday the 10th all packed and ready for our stay.  But some how they forgot to call and tell us that our stay had been changed to Friday the 13th because an anesthesiologist was not available on Tuesday the 10th.

They did give us some GREAT news though!!!  NO LEUKEMIA was found in Claire's bone marrow!!!  We still continue on the course of treatment to prevent any from coming back.

So, Friday the 13th we arrived for our stay. They always start with blood counts.  We found that Claire's body needed more time to get ready.  Her ANC count was at 170 and needed to be at least 750.  So, home we went again.  We did head back to the clinic on Tuesday the 17th and her blood counts were where they needed to be. So, Claire was scheduled to start her "delayed" next phase on August 24th.

It was great to see Claire feeling so good and enjoying a little summer fun and sun.  It's a little difficult for all of us knowing that more chemo medicine equals Claire not feeling very well. And, more time will be spent away from home.

So, this morning Jason and Claire made it to the clinic and her counts were good to go.  First, Claire had a lumbar puncture with chemo . Then they headed over to the hospital for the start of the 24 hour high does of methotrexate followed by a few days of flushing it out.  The duration of Claire's stay will be determined by how long it takes to flush the chemo medicine out of he body.  This will also let us know how she handles the high dose of methotrexate (first time).  We will have 3 more hospital stays for the next 7 weeks ( she will go in every other week).

We are so very thankful for the great doctors, nurses and hospital staff at Mary Bridge Hospital!  They help to make ours stays at the hospital as comfortable as possible...

Thank you all for the prayers and support!!!
