Cathy’s Story

Site created on June 4, 2021

Hello and welcome to Cathy's health journey. Sadly it didn't end up the way that we wanted but we had time to come to terms with her diagnosis, and we pursued her bucket list as aggressively as we could. We also got to visit with so many folks who filled her life with so much love in these tough times. We love you all so much.

Just a heads up that a tribute made to this site, though it does go to a non-profit service that allows for an ad-free environment for people like me to share their story free from data harvesting and ads, it does not go to Cathy's charities of choice. You can find those links by hitting the 'read more' button or read further.

For a little history on the journey, scroll on down to the bottom of the journal, there's 3 articles titled 2019, 2020, and 2021 that give a little background and document the fun we've been having intertwined with some of the news that is a little less fun. Sorry if this is the first time you're hearing about this, we aren't trying to keep anyone in the dark but this has been a whirlwind.

Cathy's Charities of Choice:
There are still heroes fighting this disease and some of the best people we have ever met have been at the Sarah Cannon Research Center. Donate to their cause through The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee here:

One of Cathy's favorite charities to give to and follow was the Cambodian Children's Trust that is doing great work in a place that needs it very much. Please be careful about donating to Children's Charities in Cambodia, the CCT is one of the best that is looking to lift entire families out of poverty and does amazing work.

Everly's School:
Some folks have asked about Everly and her school as well, I am reluctant to add this but here is a link to her college fund and an easy way to get money directly in her name and 100% of it will go towards her education. Please don't feel the need to give.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Doug Phillips

Due to some uncertainty in the forecast and to make sure everyone stays safe with possible weather hazards, we are going to move the celebration of life to Saturday, January 15 starting at 3pm.

The location has changed! We are now at
1700 Fatherland St
Nashville, TN 37206

Some folks have asked about Covid protocols, here are those. There will be hugs, there will be crying. There will be masks, there may be not masks. I am testing and remain negative. If you are nervous about a gathering of people, please don't put yourself at risk, we will have a phone call and virtual hug. Thank you everyone for their understanding, this is all just a wild time. But we are going to move forward and celebrate Cathy.

Love you guys,
Doug
