Day 5: Yesterday we read how God came and His angel killed 185,000 men. God can kill every cancer cell in Chuck’s body if that is His will. As we read on in we find that Isaiah now comes and tells the king he is about to die and needs to set his house in order. Chuck and I have been told by both our oncologist and our radiologist it is time to sign up for hospice for there is nothing more we can do to stop this cancer.
Next we find that Isaiah now comes and tells the king in 2 Kings 20:1 “Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.” Yesterday hospice came and we decided we need to stop and pray asking God if this is the next step He wants for us. Chuck’s throat is worse and we have not received any sign like yesterday's reading said that God’s people would in three years be flourishing and worshiping God.
As we read we see that the first thing Hezekiah did was face the wall... he is in his bedroom and the prophet comes in to tell him this news... his reaction is to not talk to Isaiah but to turn away from him and go to God. Please take this example and let your reaction to death be to turn to God and God alone! As you turn to God take time to remember how He has touched your lives and listen.
When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to You and have served You single-mindedly, always doing what pleases You.”: then he broke down and wept bitterly… 2 Kings 20:2-3
We give God our whole hearts and now ask for wisdom in next steps. Please pray with us!
Yesterday we were reminded to bring God our prayers... all of them and we will know He alone is God. We have been challenged to pray more! Focusing on Who God is and that He hears our prayers and can rescue us empowers us! Hezekiah continues to pray and believe God will rescue them!
2 Kings 19:20-37 Prophet Isaiah predicts Judah’s deliverance. He reminded the people that the Holy One of Israel watched as this Assyrian chief of staff speaks words against their God. He was foolish and prideful and God took care of him. He shares that our God knew long ago and planned all these events. He reminds them that God knows you well; where you stay and when you come and go. Next He shared a sign and how God's people would worship Him. God is in complete control and it says "The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven's Armies will make this happen... the angel of the LORD went out and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers... and the king was killed by his sons."
Please hear me as I share that pride is foolish and God is in complete control. We do not want this ten day Bible plan to reflect on us in any way. We ask God to use this to remind us of Who He is and worship God through this cancer together. We want to listen to your thoughts and ask God to use this to reveal Who He is to each of us. God is in complete control and we trust Him! We pray that He kills this cancer for currently it is the battle we are fighting! We want to worship Him in His holiness today. A sign of encouragement would be appreciated! 😊
Today Hospice comes. Chuck is still struggling to swallow.. We had son Jon and family come visit yesterday!
Day 3: Let God Rescue us! Chuck's swallowing has become worse.. please pray relief...
Yesterday we read how the enemy spread lies and accusations but we need to not listen. We also read how Hezekiah went and apologized for what he felt he did wrong. He was rebuilding walls to protect the city and we also repair those areas that need fixing! Chuck is struggling to swallow and we pray for relief.
In this study the walls are being repaired and Hezekiah continues to obey God trusting Him in every detail! When he received more negative feedback he took the letter and went to the Temple before the Lord. He called Him LORD and asked Him for deliverance so that all the kingdoms of the earth will know He alone is God! Doctors are not giving us any encouragement but we are praying to our LORD.
2 Kings 19:1-19 “When King Hezekiah heard all the Assyrian chief of staff had said he the Lord… This is a day of trouble, insults, and disgrace. It is like when a child is ready to be born but the mother has no strength to deliver the baby. But perhaps the Lord your God has heard the Assyrian chief of staff sent boy the king to defy the living God and will punish him for his words, Oh pray for those of us who are left! …. Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the Lord: O Lord, God of Israel You are alone God of all the kingdoms of this earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open Your eyes O Lord, and see!…. Now rescue us from the power and then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that You alone O Lord, are God!”
We continue to go to Jesus and tell Him all these troubles and believe He rescues us as He did long ago. Please understand that our goal today is to share that this same Lord ALONE is God and will rescue us! We continue to fail and need to examine our lives asking for Him to "Bend Down and Listen" thank you for your support! We are so blessed!
He is our God of Breakthrough.. https://youtu.be/BchmZe5yR-Y
Chuck and I claim cancer is a battle and our job is to ask God to help us make the best choices! We trust our God is always good and His ways are always the best ways. Chuck is struggling with esophagitis and swallowing is difficult. Doctors say this is a side affect for radiation and will pass. Please pray for relief. Here Hezekiah is king, his people needed to repair the walls for protection, they claimed God would fight their battles. Read 2 Kings 18:1-8 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord and remained faithful to the Lord in everything and he carefully obeyed all the commands the Lord had given. The Lord was with him and Hezekiah had success in everything he did…. (vs 9-37) Assyria invades Judah and their king’s chief of staff taunted them and made fun of Hezekiah and told them their God would never rescue them. He tried to bribe them with foods and prosperity, offering idols for them to trust instead of their God. But the people were silent and did not utter a word because Hezekiah had commanded, “Do not answer them.”Focus as we move forward is critical. Hezekiah did what was right in the site of the Lord, he removed idols, he trusted in the Lord and kept God's commands.. defeating his enemies! We also struggle with wanting our agenda instead of surrendering to His. Please also pray for us to discern between what is from God and what is not and to let God fight this battle! 1 Peter 1:13 "Prepare your minds for action and exercise self control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world."
Also please share insights you receive from reading these passages for we share knowing God has brought you all around us as family and friends!
This next week will be another pause from doctor appointments and an opportunity for us to share a 10 day Bible reading plan that our family is using to unite us under the authority of God's Word and strengthen us together. Our hopes are it will encourage some of you and we invite you to join us. We believe we have the Holy Spirit to lead and empower, to fill us with a peace and a protection from the yuck of this world (which includes cancer). God's Word is strong and true and it never fails!
To set the stage for these readings...in the Old Testament Genesis we learn the facts about Creation and the Ten Commandments. We read about Moses and the Exodus and then how God's people set up Israel. There were many wars and battles. The lessons we are going to focus on are written about three places in the Old Testament: 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, and Isaiah. Hezekiah is a king back in 700's BC and in 2 Chronicles 30:20-21 it says he handled things in a way that was pleasing to the Lord and followed God's laws and commands seeking Him wholeheartedly. When Judah was invaded by the Assyrians (2 Chron 31:1-8) he worked hard to repair the broken sections of the wall and encouraged his people saying: "Be strong and courageous! Don't be afraid or discouraged for there is a power far greater on our side! We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!" Take time to read these verses as we claim it is not us but God we let fight our battles! We do as we feel God leads us and now we wait and pray!
