Chuck has taken a turn to the worse and is feeling God may be ready to welcome him to Heaven. His lungs are full of mucous and his heart rate a bit elevated. Nurse Lenora was impressed with how attentive he was yesterday and says he is a very special patient. Today we see a big change in attentiveness. Chuck is sleeping lots and we all ask for God to please either welcome him home or heal him here. Because God loves Chuck more than we do we can have confidence that ... "All things work together for good to those who love God!" Rom 8:28. Chuck's verse last night was, Ps 46:10 “Be still and Know I AM God”

Chuck is struggling with more pain and really difficult moments of coughing up the mucous from his lungs in order to breathe.  We have increased the morphine and continue to use the nebulizer to try to loosen up the cough.  We are taking one day at a time embracing each moment when pain is lessened and he is awake to share life together. I am so thankful for Chuck's trust in the fact that God is holding his hand through all of this.  Last night as he went to sleep his Bible verse shared with me was: Psalms118:24,"This is the day the Lord has made, We will rejoice and be glad in it!"

We have continued to ask for Holy Spirit to lead us and His power carry us.   In reflecting on Jesus birth it is a good reminder that the Holy Spirit was the power that Mary relied on as well.  In Luke 1 it says “the angel came and told Mary that the Lord is with you and she would conceive and give birth to the Son of the Most high. she asked, “How can this be?” (Mary was confused and disturbed).  The angel responded that “The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the most High will overshadow you.  So the baby to be born will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God.  ...for nothing is impossible with God.   Then she responded “I am the Lord’s servant,  may everything you have said about me come true...

Often we are confused, but our prayer is to accept what God has given us as God’s servants and claim this same power Mary felt. Keeping the attitude of praise as Mary also did in verses just after this.

Thank you for your cards and notes and prayers!  It is such a special time of year to get caught up on your lives and hear all God is doing in them.  We are also thankful for phone calls and visits for Chuck wants to share God's work with you all.  (Don't hesitate to contact us for if it is a bad time you can leave a message.)

Our family plans to come this next weekend and spend time together.  Please pray for that to be a very special opportunity to share and celebrate Life!

Chuck is so much better than last post when he was feeling "different"!  We asked God to allow family special visits over the weekend and He did!  Chuck was able to enjoy time with 6 grandkids and Jessie & Kendal and Jinelle & Mike.  He has developed a couple bed sores and we pray healing on those along with prayer for his cough and that yucky mucous to completely disappear.  Since Chuck was doing so poorly last Wednesday and we asked you to pray, we want to share these blessings from the past 4 days and our thanks for your prayers:

~Thursday morning Chuck felt better so Jinelle brought over breakfast providing precious alone time, and later in the day her and Mike surprised us with a Christmas tree along with bringing supper to spend the evening together. They stayed at Mike's parent's home to allowed rest as needed.
~Friday(my birthday), they picked up flowers that their Dad had asked them to get (yellow lillies to match those in our wedding) along with unexpected gifts from the kids. Colden (3 1/2) and Rory (1 1/2) were excited to help Nana open gifts and celebrate then were quickly off to sledding in the snow.
~Friday noon Chuck asked for noodles and dressing! Thanksgiving dinner is better late than never.  (I had saved it hoping to enjoy it together) so when Jinelle stayed for lunch we celebrated and Chuck cleaned up his plate feeling  the best he has felt for weeks!
~After lunch the doorbell rang, and I found my brother had driven all the way from Rockford to surprise us; celebrating my birthday and sharing in person his love for Chuck and admiration for him on this journey!
~Jessie & Kendal arrived Saturday for a quick 23 hour visit with Jonah (9), Clara (7), Sierra (5), & Sawyer (3) wanting time to see Papa after praying for him for so long.  God again provided incredible visits and sharing with our faith at the core and prayer for God to move in His way and in His time!  After lunch together the kids were off and playing outside & Chuck taking a nap.  Jinelle invited the cousins over to play at Mike's folks home providing alone time for Jess and Kendal with us.  Chuck was attentive and we prayed for the authority God has over all sickness and disease.  Saturday night Kendal fixed Chuck a fish dinner, and we all enjoyed early bedtime.
~Sunday morning provided opportunity for the Baker family to gather around Chuck and each of the kids joined their parents to pray.  How precious were Chuck's words as he lifted each of them up to God asking for their faith to be strong and choices to be wise as they grow!!
~Late morning with 6 little ones preparing to leave, God opened a window for the six adults to pray together and give one more special time to surrender Chuck to God's healing!  By noon the house was quiet and sleep was calling for the rest of the day.

God answered our prayer for Chuck, and we received a special gift these past four days of family, prayer, great conversations on God's work in our lives, and grandkids laughter around Papa's bed.  As a family we are united in our faith and committed to work together to seek Holy Spirit power every step of the way! Discussions on healing and listening to the Spirit have deepened our love for each other and for God!   Chuck's verse this weekend has been: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  Matt 6:33.
This means putting Jesus and the things of the Spirit first in our lives. Surrendering loved ones to God comes as we believe God's ways are best.  Life here needs to focus more on Heaven and PARADISE to keep our perspectives.

We are still praying that God is not finished with Chuck here in Eagle River!  This would mean a miracle of physical healing.  We ask for God to move and either show us it is time for PARADISE or it is time to watch Him heal and share God's power and purpose here!  Please keep praying miracles to come soon as we wait for God to move.  God never changes and He does all things well.  This song shares these truths:

This morning Chuck's words were,"I feel different". I called the nurse and she came finding his vitals all fine.  He is still hurting and struggles to breathe so we turned up the oxygen and gave him more morphine to ease the pain. The nurse says it may be days, but not long, for Chuck's color has changed and all the signs are that his body is shutting down.

As he lays in his hospital bed I am sitting here with worship music on, soaking in the fact that our God is a God of miracles and He is a God Who does wonders. The link below is to a song sharing that we ask the Holy Spirit to fill our presence.  I pray for our hearts to be set on fire and to move God's ways, not ours, for His ways are always best! “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways” Isaiah 55:9 We believe in miracles and acknowledge we have seen many miracles in the past 2 years.  Is the next move a healing here in our Northwoods Paradise or is it a healing in Heaven our eternal PARADISE?   Now is the time for a move and God we trust Your ways are best!  Yes, I am still praying that move is going to be one of complete healing as when Jesus told the lame man to  "Take up your mat and walk," John 5:8.

Last Monday Jeff and his wife Michelle came to share time with their Dad.  We sang worship songs and prayed together. it was a special time. Tomorrow Jinelle and Mike come over and Lord willing on Saturday Jessie and Kendal join us. Jon and Tamara were just here, so we have had precious times with each of our kids.  We believe God is going to make a move and we set our hearts on His ways!  Remember mountains are still being moved!

Chuck has been fighting quite a battle these past months and we admire him for that.  Only God can win this battle so while we wait for God to move I believe it is time for Chuck to just relax and
(Ps46:10) “Be still and know that I AM God!”  Come Holy Spirit we welcome You! We share moments reflecting on Heaven and life forever with bodies that will not fail.  We have had time to praise God for His love and peace knowing Heaven is where we are to each long for.  I have had opportunity to release Chuck to God telling him how much I love him, but still sharing how I am his forever team mate.  Wonders are still what God does and bodies are still being raised!  Use us to glorify You and if possible could that mean a miracle healing here??   Could you rise Chuck up and give him strength to live longer?  As Jesus prayed, “Not My will but Yours be done!” (Luke 22:42).

This past weekend has been a battle!  Chuck's oxygen had gone down to 84, his lungs were wheezing, his throat still full of thrush, his mind very confused from meds, and strength gone on Thanksgiving Day.  He fought hard over the weekend and we now can say that his thrush is gone, he is mostly off oxygen, his mind is totally clear, but that mucous in his lungs is still an issue and hard to cough up as well as his strength totally gone.  The nurse advised we do not try to get Chuck out of bed for he is just too weak and may hurt himself.  This is a really tough change, and we pray for Chuck to start eating again to regain strength. Our kids are coming often now for more support and time together.

Each night before going to sleep we claim a verse for the night time battles.  Chuck has continued to claim that "through God's mighty power at work in us He will accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think!"
The first part of that verse says: May you have the power to understand, as all Gods people should how wide, how long, how high, how deep His love is!  May you experience the love of Christ" This is Eph 3:21

As we live these days together I want to share that last week our manager, Steve, built Chuck a platform to put his recliner on so that he could continue to use it.  It had become too hard to get up out of it, and by adding six inches he could use it.  We called it his "throne" and so appreciate Steve's help. After the nurse's visit I was sitting in his chair when Chuck said, "there has been a coup in the castle and now Pam is on the throne!" Laughter is so good! Hugs are amazing and we are so thankful to be together!  God is holding us in His Hands.

Please keep praying miracles!  The nurse is giving us a short life span in the eyes of hospice; perhaps 6 weeks.    Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you, I will hold you up with My victorious right hand”.
We trust Him and we pray that each of you can have that same confidence for He is holding us in His victorious Hands!

Thank you all for being such support to Chuck and I these past 22months!  God has been our strength and He has used you to give us many blessings!  Today we are celebrating, just the two of us, in our home as Chuck needs to rest and keep fighting this battle.  When we called and cancelled our family plans our son Jon and his wife Tamara drove over for a quick visit.  Precious time to share, to pray, to touch, and to just sit together with each of our kids has been our biggest blessing this side of Heaven!  This week Chuck took a turn for the worse and has lost most of his strength.  Hospice says it is either the horrible combination of his bad congestion from his cold & thrush prohibiting him to eat OR it is "progression of the disease".  Please fight this with us in prayer!

We believe we are to live each day to the fullest and today time alone in the peace and quiet of our own home is precious.  Thank God for providing Jesus Who opens the door for us to come into God's Presence!  Thank God for life here and for Paradise to look forward to.  Love your spouse and your children deeply!  Look outside at where you live and thank God for His creation!

Take time today to appreciate all God has gifted us with!  Ephesians 3:12-21

Because of Christ and our faith in Him we can boldly and confidently come into Gods Presence. Don’t lose heart because of trials here...When I think of them I fall to my knees and pray to the Father Creator of Heaven and earth. I pray that from His glorious unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through the Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into Gods love and keep you strong. May you have the power to understand, as all Gods people should how wide, how long, how high, how deep His love is!  May you experience the love of Christ, through His mighty power at work in us to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think!

This video was forwarded to me from a friend.  Chuck is not in a wheelchair, but his strength is gone and he depends on me to care for him.  This is a privilege for we are a team!  We thank God for Love!  We thank God for Hope!  We thank God for Faith!  WE THANK GOD FOR YOU!

Chuck is struggling with weakness.  This past week he has eaten very little for the thrush in his mouth and throat has been brutal.  We also took off the fetynal patches and have replaced this with an extended release morphine.  To top things off he still has lots of mucous in his chest from his bad cold that make it hard to breathe.   Last entry I shared a verse about weakness so today I will add the next two verses:  2 Corinthians 12:9-11. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

We want to share with each of you that Chuck's strength is from God and he thanks each of you for your prayers. He has not gotten to the point to boast but asks for the power of Christ moment by moment! Sunday at 2 PM we ask you to specifically ask for healing, for strength, for wisdom with new meds, and to take time to thank God for all He has done!  Please know we will be thanking God for each of you as we pray together.  Please set the alarms on your clocks and take a few minutes to first praise God, then thank Him, and lastly ask Him for these requests.

This song "You are Here"  would be a  way to remind us although we are spread all across the world we have Holy Spirit here with us as we pray for Chuck on Sunday!

As you end your prayer time the song "Bigger than I thought You Were" may be a way to remind us that God understands our prayers and His ways are always best!

Thank you and have a Blessed Thanksgiving!  Here is a picture of our family a year ago on Thanksgiving.  We are so thankful for them!

This is a battle!  Chuck has continued to take meds to break up the congestion, but now has sores all over his mouth.  His shoulder continues to be painful, but we are finding relief in warm compresses and massage along with pain meds.  He is challenged with his weakness in walking & standing, but he continues to exercise in bed to try to work his muscles.  Hospice has provided an over the toilet commode that lifts the seat higher so that he can get up, and he is also using this to shower.  This has been a huge help for he cannot make his legs lift him up from a regular chair any longer.  He says thank you God for this tool and it has been humbling to not be able to get out of the chair or bed.

We are praying wisdom in this battle and Chuck's nurse is adjusting meds. Please pray wisdom!  This cold has brought frustration with a cough, trouble sleeping, & now these mouth sores! The tumor on Chucks nose has grown and spread... yes, this battle is fierce and Chuck continues to ask God to be his strength when he is weak..  our wisdom when we do not know what to do.

God said to me (Paul), "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Cor 12:9.

Our God has continued to unite our family in praying for healing and trusting our God knows best how to glorify Him and exhibit His power in this battle.  We worship God for Who He is and that takes away our fears. We know God is our Healer and healing can be here in little steps (which we have already seen), in complete healing (which we pray for), and in Heaven with a new body (which we all need to strive for)!  Chuck is totally trusting God's ways and leaning on His strength!

Thank you for your prayers!  As we prepare for Thanksgiving we want you to know how thankful we are for each of you.  We continue to pray for the miracle of healing and have a peace and hope that gives a joy in the middle of this battle. "WayMaker" by Michael W Smith

We believe It's already done Every battle's already won It is finished It is perfect We believe you're overcome
We will sing like heaven is here We will run like freedom is ours We will dance cause you brought us this far Take us further,
You said it we believe it You spoke it we receive it Your kingdom come Right here in us You said it we believe it
You spoke it we receive it. We believe you've overcome. And it's already, already done  "King is Here" by Thad Grimm

When Your spirit's here my fear it has to leave!  All the darkness runs and hides... Your Arms surround me;
You make the orphan feel at home.  I find out who I am and You pull me out of the lies!
Just to be with You is all I want so Holy Spirit come!
Spirit come like a flood crash into this place.  We won't be satisfied until You've come... so Spirit come!
You complete and restore me.  You quiet my soul and from my mess You will pull me.  You won't let go!  Oh the King is here!
You're behind and before me; I know it's You.  You're here in the room standing next to me.  Oh the King is here!
There's a King in the room and He died for me.  All my worries and doubts oh they have to leave!
All sickness, diseases; you have no place for Healer is here and he's made a way
My miracle I claim in faith for my God, You've spoke it and it's not in vain.  Oh the King is here!

Thanks for continuing to pray for Chuck in this battle!  His body is weak and this cold has really taken away his good sleep.  It seems the cough is lessening but the weakness is extreme.  The nurse came last week and all his vitals are still perfect but why is he so weak? His shoulder is still quite painful.  We are claiming:

Isaiah 40:28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Chuck trusts that God is holding him in His Hands and asks for his strength to return.  We continue to pray for healing here, but also know complete healing is in PARADISE.  While here Chuck really wants to share with all that life is short and healing is needed in more than the body; healing in all our relationships. No one knows what tomorrow may bring, and Chuck has felt his purpose is to share God's forgiveness and love with all. He enjoys each of your visits, cards, and telephone calls.

When we focus our thoughts on Who God is we can rest in His Presence day by day as we take one step in front of the other. We ask for wisdom in how much to exercise and push the body and how much to rest and continue to let it heal.  God knows every cell in Chuck's body so we ask His wisdom and ask for a renewing of his strength!  We continue to pray miracles!!

Thank you all for coming together to pray for Chuck and myself and asking God to heal him with a miracle!  We believe our God knows us inside and out!  We believe God has a plan and each of us needs to continue to live life one day at a time.  Our lives have had a push this past few weeks into thinking about our future.  God is in control and we go to His Word to use as our lifeline!  We cannot thank you all enough for what it means to be surrounded by so many friends and family who are praying!  Your love has brought us to tears again and again.

Just a timeline for everyone to know what happened:

Psalm 46. God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the depth of the sea. …..  We run to God as our Refuge but we also must   Be still and Know I am God!

Mark 9 is the story when the father brings his son to be healed… the disciples cannot do it… Jesus comes to the father who asks, But if you can do anything take pity on us and help us…. Jesus replies..If you can?  Everything is possible for one who believes,.  Immediately the father exclaimed. I DO BELIEVE. Help me with my unbelief!~. and Jesus tells disciples this kind only comes out by prayer!   Please keep praying for our faith~!  Thank you for your prayers!

Feb 3…Saturday Jeff helps with chores and Chuck settles in. We rest over the weekend. Sunday, Feb 4 we stay home

Feb 5-7….Mon-Wed Chuck rests and gains strength.    Pam had an opportunity at the Northwoods Share Community Dinner on Tuesday night to share first Valentines greetings and the love Jesus shows us is what Northwoods Share is all about!  We have a heart and want to share Jesus love with each person who we have opportunity to visit with.  Second at Valentines celebrate love in relationships!  It was with tears she mentioned her love for Chuck and challenged couples to not take that for granted!  Dr Scott Beattie shared the devo and simply share how one is saved!  Salvation is from Jesus!  At birthday bag time Pam took time to ask for prayer.  She asked who at the dinner had had cancer… and several raised their hands.  Next she shared that Chuck has cancer and it is a very bad type.  She shared their world has been changed and a big reminder that we do not know what may happen tomorrow!  She then said she wanted to take each person by the shoulders and shake them to really understand they must know that Jesus wants to save them and they must take this opportunity to ask Jesus for life in Heaven.  Father Jim prayed for Chuck and Pam and then birthday bags were a chance to celebrate life!

Psalms 41 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak for the LORD delivers them in times of trouble!  The LORD protects and preserves them.  They are counted among the blessed in the land.  He does not give them over to the desires of their foes.  The LORD sustains them on their sick bed and restores them from their bed of illness.,  I said Have mercy on me, LORD!  Heal me for I have sinned against You!

Thursday. Appointment with Doctor Gary Pusatori who basically cheered us on to live healthy and build a “big trailer” to fight this!

"Don't be afraid.  Just trust Me."

The Lord's Lighthouse
by Kathie Iselin ©
Though I long for clear skies with the sun overhead...
Once again I'm left facing dark storm clouds instead.
As wind whipped waves of frustration now wash over me...
I find myself powerless upon life's stormy sea.
Tossed about as dense fog obscures my sight...
So weary from trying to fight the good fight.
Wondering where I'm headed frantically searching for...
That bright guiding beam of Light coming from the shore.
For without this beacon to illuminate my life...
I'd lay lost and shipwrecked on the rocky shores of strife.
So I've learned to seek the Lord's Lighthouse when tempest waters roll...
In search of the Ray of Hope which brings comfort to my soul.
Clinging now to His Promises, as I would a life boat...
I feel the strength of my Savior's Love, keeping me afloat.
Discovering in my darkness, adversity's hidden key...
Which unlocks the "treasure" found in the depths of this raging sea.
For tho deep waters draw me down, the Lord's Light won't grow dim...
Enabling me to delve deeper, into the depths of Him!

"Lord, You have brought light to my life;
my God, You light up my darkness."
Psalm 18:28 NLT

Friday  We contacted MAYO to see about the second opinion to find out they never received the paper work!  I called records in Marshfield and Peggy admitted they had missed them and they were still sitting to be sent.  Later in the day she confirmed MAYO has them now.

Appointment with Dr Yasar oncologist in Minocqua was VERY DISAPPOINTING…. Found out the biopsy samples are still sitting in the lab in Marshfield and have not been sent out.  She apologized and just said these things happen. She offered hope that Chuck’s cancer is probably a mutation since he never smoked and that she is optimistic in treatment that could be as simple as a pill to take. She also opened the door for the cancer then to go into remission.  She then did a brief physical and stopped to point out the lymph node near his shoulder blade where she said they could always do another biopsy!  We told her the cancer had not traveled there!  She wondered why they did the bronchial biopsy~!  We felt she did not understand Chuck’s cancer

Wait and See that the Lord is GOOD~!  Be STILL and KNOW that I AM GOD!  Isaiah 40:31. Those who hope in the LORD renew their strength and sour on wings like eagles; they run and do not grow weary and walk and do not faint!

Feb 10-13 Chuck is really struggling with lack of sleep.  He is getting only 3-4 hours a night and then taking a couple naps during the day.,  His mind is moving as he wants to “get his house in order”!  The decision to sell the resort and how to move forward is overwhelming.  A neighbor has shown interest and met with us several times working on numbers and financing.    Feb 14th Valentines Day to celebrate love~!  Time together and home sweet home!

My awful worries
keep growing.

I will put my hope in God."

Walking through the Valley
by Kathie Iselin ©
Oh Abba Father please reach down Your strong Hand...
For this road's lonely and and I don't understand.
As Your Child, I know in all this I'm not alone...
Yet as darkness closes in I need to be shown.
The path is unfamiliar with no end in sight...
As I stumble in darkness searching for Your Light.
My heart is heavy and at times I'm filled with fear...
Please rescue and deliver me by drawing near.
Help me to rely on You trusting You know best...
Gather me close and in Your Arms let me find rest.
Surround me with Your Peace & touch me with Your Grace...
As you strengthen me for whatever I must face.
Fortify me with Your Love whenever I grow weak...
Reminding me it's through faith I gain the strength I seek.
Contend for me through this battle and in its aftermath...
By bestowing Your Wisdom as I walk this unknown path.
Illuminate the way so I can clearly see...
Revealing the hidden snares Satan's set for me.
As I walk through this valley let me not dismay...
By allowing me to feel Your Presence every day.
Please  guide me on this journey for I know not what to do...
While whispering softly to my heart come I'll carry you.

"Do not be afraid or discouraged...
For the battle is not yours, but God's."
2 Chronicles 20:15 NIV

Sheltered Within My Fortress

Feb 15-18 Kris and Jack O’Brien come to visit.  We walked and fed the birds at Anvil Trails.  We got out but Chuck still had his afternoon nap every night for still not sleeping.  Time with friends is the best!  We enjoyed snow shoeing, playing games, and sharing together!

Psalm 130 Out of depths (cancer fears) I cry to You LORD YHWH !  Lord Master Jehovah hear my voice and let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy!  If you kept record of sin who could stand? (unbelief). I wat for the LORD my whole being waits; in His Word I put my hope!  Israel (Family) put your hope in YHWH with JHWH is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.

Feb 19 cleaning chalets and driving to Rochester (in an ice storm) for our first appointment with Dr Mansfield!  We have chosen to celebrate life and take these “get aways” as date moments so off to Rochester Inn and the Outback!  We are thankful friend Dr Mark Loehrke had a connection here and we were able to get this appointment.  We felt this was of God for Dr Mansfield was leaving that night for a month away!

Feb 20 started with blood tests and chest xrays.  Dr Mansfield’s  PA Anne took time to really review our case.  She also showed us on the PET scan that Chuck had more spots of cancer in his body.  Both lungs and other lymph nodes have been affected.  This was disappointing as we were hoping for news that we may do radiation, but since cancer has spread we continue to pray for a mutation.  We felt Mayo is the best place for us to be!

Dr Mansfield suggested we find an insurance plan for medications.  He said a pill would be used for some of the mutations that could cost over $10,000 a month!  Concern now crept in and we had some phone calls to make.  However before that we took lunch to review all this info at Olive Garden and enjoy each other…. We arrived at Jon and Tamara’s home for afternoon play time with Byron and Zoe!  Snow slides and dancing to music brought smiles.  Holding little Zoe and a nice meatloaf dinner together were perfect!  Wednesday we headed home vis Wausau and shopping.  Jerry had taken good care of our horses and dogs… So thankful for neighbors who are willing to help out!

Your Heart's Treasure
by Kathie Iselin  ©
May your soul experience the Savior's Love - so rare and true...
And may the glory of God's Presence - touch the world around you.
May the sound of His Voice and Word, become
your heart's treasure...
And through Him; may you experience joy in full measure.
May you walk in the Light of His Presence, each and every day...
Wrapped in the warmth and wonder, of His Love whenever you pray.
May your walk reflect a forgiving heart and listening ear...
One that seeks and follows the path, where His Spirit remains near.
May you live a life that's blessed, beyond what you have ever dreamed...
And may you have a powerful witness, so more are redeemed.
As He continues to watch over and protect from above...
May the God of all Life - keep you in the shelter of His Love.
May you forever feel awe and amazement, in His Son...
And may you never lose that child-like faith, that's now begun.
For the greatness of His Glory, now shines brightly on your face...
Radiant in the knowledge and gift of everlasting grace.

"May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too
great to understand fully.  Then you will be made complete
with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."
Ephesians 3:19 NLT

Feb 22-23Thursday back home and Friday we heard from the neighbor that she was no longer interested in buying The Lodge… We had been hoping to have this sold but only one hour later we received a call from a long-time family friend who said he was interested in The Lodge and three of the 4-bedroom homes to purchase and run as a resort!  God direct our steps!  Tonight we join our neighbors at a fish fry and share both our cancer story and the fact we are selling the resort.  We want to glorify God in every step!

Feb 24-28 Saturday and Sunday brought more time with friends as we enjoyed a game night and then time after church with friends!  It was good to be at church with our church body!  Hugs are dangerous!  So many praying friends!  The week started out with Chuck again not sleeping and him trying to figure out how to promote our homes to this future buyer.  Many phone calls and good communication with hopes!  Time to wait again for life takes time to figure things out and we were told an answer by March 20th.

Monday Feb 26 we received the c all we have been waiting for… yes, we have a mutation… BUT. It is ERBB2 and very rare with no cure!  Good news/bad news…. We believe there is a reason and pray for a cure!

Deut 30:19. “Choose Life!  Love the Lord, Listen and Hold Fast to Him! “

Psalm 130:5. “I wait for the LORD, with my whole being I wait!  In His Word I put my hope!”

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future!  Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me and I will listen to you!  You seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart!  I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and will bring you back from captivity (cancer).

Thursday March 1 after cleaning a chalet and plowing we head to Mayo for our first chemo treatment!  Again these are date opportunities so we started out with a special stop at Eagle Roasters for a special coffee!  Upon turning into the parking lot we were greeted by Father Jim Fosdick from St Mary of the Snow…. He wanted us to know many are praying and asked if he could pray for us~!  YES!  Next he prayed the prayer of Hezekiah that God would grant Chuck 15 more years and heal him!~. We were thankful and after parking entered the back shop looking for owner Dan Beihoff to say hi to him.  Dan had time to share with us a very special painting that his grandfather had had made!  It was about his grandmother having cancer and his grandfather had asked God to heal her!  The painting is a picture of the Holy Spirit in form of a dove, the cross and the light with the triangle of the trinity!

John 14:25,26 “These things I have spoken to you while yet dwelling with you.  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your mind whatever I have said to you.”….

We were blessed and Dan handed us cards to share with others.  He shared that people have been healed from cancer with this painting and the truth it represents and Chuck is the next one!   Next as getting our coffee we saw two gals whom both said they had been praying for us!  They shared God’s work in healing and anointing oil!   One said she had some oil for us to use from a “Liquid Bible” that has proven healing!  Now we are on the road to study a book given to us to read by friends who felt God had shown truths to share about holistic ways to fight cancer!  One struck us that is approved by FDA… Flax hulls…??  God lead us!

Thursday night we checked into he Quality Inn and a date night to Applebys!  Friday morning early starts chemo and we were up very early ready to check in at Mayo at 8 AM!

March 2 we me with PA Anne who again answered many questions now that we had received the word about ERBB2 found out yes, she has treated this but it all depends on the person as does how chemo affects one.. Dr Mansfield has prescribed a combo of chemo therapy and immune therapy for Chuck.  Chemo started at 11:30 and we entered the chemo side of Mayo Clinic.  Folks here are so very nice and helpful.  We were to be here 4 hours and yes, treated with a three-way cocktail!  Chemo Cocktail! First IV for 30 minutes pembrolizumab (Ketruda) Second IV after 30 minute break pemetrexed (Alimta) Third IV after 30 minute break is Carboplatin for 30 minutes.   DONE~!  We head to the truck and Chuck is feeling well enough to drive home!  Stopping only at Arbys for supper we arrived home by 9:30.  We took time on the way home to read and discuss Hezekiah’s story:

2 Kings 18-20 Hezekiah becomes king and is a good king following in David’s ways.  He put his whole trust in the God of Israel.  There was no king like him either before or after and he held fast to God.  He never loosened his grip and obeyed to the letter all God commanded!    Bad things happened because Israel would not listen to God.  Hezekiah tells the king of Assyria Israel was wrong and would pay them back   Hezekiah made bad choices by taking silver from God’s temple and then Hezekiah tears his robe and goes into the temple. Hezekiah prayed to God.  Maker of Heaven and Earth!  Open your ears and listen and open your eyes and hear, SAVE US~!  You are God…. Thant night the angel of God came and massacred 185,000 Assyrians!  Next Hezekiah gets sick and Isaiah comes to tell him, “Put your affairs in order for you are about to die!”  Hezekiah prays to God,  “Remember God who I am and what I have done.  I’ve lived honest before you and my heart has been true and steady.  I’ve lived to please You.”  Hezekiah wept and Isaiah then heard from God “Go back and tell Hezekiah I have listened and seen your tears.  I am going to heal you!  In 3 days you will walk on your own legs into the Temple of God.  I have added 15 years to your life!”  Next they boiled a fig plaster and applied it to eh king and he was on his way to recovery.  However he asked how to know this is of God or not just the fig plaster?…. He asked for a sign and then Isaiah asked do you want God to advance the shadow on the stairs 10 degrees or have it go back 10 degrees?  Hezekiah thought it too easy to go forward so asked for it to go back and the shadow went back.. The story goes on..

Saturday March 3 we thanked Jerry for his help and had him and Sioux over for dinner and Sunday we went to church again with Chuck feeling great!  Monday March 5th  …. Jinelle gave birth to her second son.. our 10th grandchild Rory Randall Siergiej!  NEW LIFE~!

We celebrate with Jinelle and Mike!  However Chuck is not feeling as well and fever starts climbing…. By night time to 99.9 and we pray it goes down…. Our doctor gave strict instructions if fever goes to 100.5 you must go to the emergency room!  Thanking God it went down.  Chuck is now starting to sleep for got some perscription sleeping aids and finally more sleep!~

Tuesday was another day Chuck just did not feel well and had low grade fever with it again rising at night.  He is now taking 2-3 naps per day as well as sleeping 7 hours at night!  Thankfully temp went down again later evening.  Pam went to the community dinner again and was greeted by many folks from 3 Lakes Free Church with hugs of encouragement and wanting her to know they are praying!  Coming home that night Chuck was not happy with the hugs!  We must beware of infection and germs….  He slept well again!  Wednesday at Needs Ministry Pam is much more careful and when guests came in coughing she left and went home!  Chuck seems better and continues to take naps and sleep better.  Thursday and Friday both find him feeling stronger and no temp!
