Tough nights and yet Chuck's words when his eyes are clear are to PRAISE GOD!  Here is an amazing story about a miracle and a couple much in love with God first and each other!  It so reminds me of Chuck and I that I wanted to share it!    https://youtu.be/1FPUFx3EPw0.
When life is hard... we Praise God!
When life is fun... we Praise God!

Ps 107:19-21. “Lord, Help! They cried in their troubles and He saved them from their distress.  He sent out His word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.  Let them praise the Lord for His great love and for the wonderful things He has done for them!”

God has us in His Hands!  We celebrate and pray for each of you as you send such sweet notes!  Celebrate Jesus!  We are praying for special time with grandkids this weekend!

Today we are reminded that our God loves us deeply and knows how best to care for us.  Sometimes we try to tell God what He should do.. and that is never a good thing!  Chuck entered Heaven today. He went  peacefully early this morning, and we are claiming his complete healing miracle happened there.  As we look back there were many little healings along the way and God was very gracious in allowing us these last 100 weeks together to prepare for life apart.  God brought us support that allowed us to focus on each other when often people cannot do that.

To share the final details: Tuesday was a rough day with lungs filling with mucous and an awful fight to get it out and breathe. Yesterday was a quiet day with Chuck in a comatose and not so much discomfort.  Last night our nurse warned me that things could become difficult, but instead it was very special. We shared Chuck's last night alone together. As I sat next to him I watched for his eyes to open and went over to tell him how much I loved him, and how he has been an amazing husband and father.  He was struggling to move or respond, but then he moved his hand over to mine and gripped it with eyes clear and focused.  God gave us these special moments as Chuck was moving from earth to Heaven.  He died very peacefully early this morning after I had one last chance to whisper ny love in his ear.

Chuck would ask each of you to love God and Praise Him. Those were some of his last words, “Praise God” as we claimed Bible verses as our sword to fight this sickness .  We claim hope and can know that Chuck is with Jesus.  I can hear this song ringing: https://youtu.be/lZu7mfYS_VY.

Next he would thank each of you for your support and prayers!  You all have been incredible and we are so blessed.  He would challenge you to love your spouse deeply, live life together with your families, and remember PARADISE is coming and no one knows what may happen tomorrow!  We pray that you have received the invitation to Heaven from Jesus our Savior!

Life will never be the same here without Chuck.  We must remember his saying early on: "God has me in His Hands!"  God welcomed him with His great love, and His love is greater than mine. It is now my job to remember that God loves me more than Chuck did, and to live my life with His love holding me close.  This  is hard to imagine for we loved deeply.  I am now letting God hold me in His Hands!

I will cling to God’s love knowing He never makes mistakes, and His ways are always the best ways. .Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
I will remember that God never makes mistakes and He knows what He is doing!  Heaven's timetable is forever while time here is short.  I will see Chuck again, and I can feel his presence will be all around us as he now has that 4 dimensional ability to see us!  Let's not get so busy here on earth that we forget our purpose really is Heaven.

With Christmas a few days from now I also want to turn our focus to Jesus, Whom Chuck is with now! This song reminds me of Heaven! Mary asked for Breath of Heaven to hold her together....  I am asking the same..  Please no comparison to Mary... just our need to focus on our Holy God!    https://youtu.be/L8_475FKJWQ

Merry Christmas loved ones!  We plan to celebrate Chuck's life after the new year and I will keep you posted.  We hope to celebrate his PARADISE along with all God has given us here in our Northwoods Paradise!  We love you. Chuck and Pam

Thanks you all for your support and prayers during these past 102 weeks!  We have planned a special service to celebrate Chuck's presence in Heaven tomorrow, Saturday January 4, at noon.

Because not everyone can make this service we are planning to offer a live feed on our Zauggs Resort Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/Zauggs-Resort-368759272080/?eid=ARByBUToWc-rP7uFkWQo1v5bOnmvbMgPeEk6dQkxtp68ISlias953q5UkMaLjB7a45xlTNyQuSU079kg&timeline_context_item_type=intro_card_work&timeline_context_item_source=1383767322&fref=tag

We also want to share Chuck's obituary:

“Just another day in Paradise”  was the common phrase heard by Chuck as he enjoyed life with his wife and family in the beautiful northwoods of Wisconsin. Integrity, Vision, Hard Work, and Sacrifice write the story of an amazing man that has moved from Paradise to PARADISE.

Gene “Chuck” Zaugg died peacefully at home in Eagle River, WI on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 at the age of 67. He was born May 2, 1952 in Rockford, IL to Ben and Lydia (Schafer) Zaugg with older brothers Gerald, Lynn, Larry and sister Nancy. The “Work hard and play hard” Zaugg moto was ingrained in him starting very young while working excavation for his older brother Jerry and Zaugg Excavation. This led to building homes at the young age of 21 and becoming a realtor/broker to market and sell them.

In 1976 he married Pamela (Nyquist) whom he loved and cared for until he was taken home to Heaven. They had four children; Jessica (Kendal) Baker, Jeffrey (Michelle) Zaugg, Jonathon (Tamara) Zaugg and Jinelle (Michael) Siergiej, all living in the Greater Twin Cities of MN. Chuck was an amazing dad who loved and challenged his kids to do the best in all they did.

Chuck’s gift of being a visionary led to risk-taking when he brought his family to Eagle River, WI in 1992 to turn a deserted boys camp into Zaugg’s Resort on Anvil Lake. With the family as his crew, Chuck taught his kids to work hard and made sacrifices to see his dream fulfilled. His faith and integrity was seen in everything he did and Chuck believed “a job worth doing is worth doing right.” He built hundreds of custom quality homes and impacted everyone he worked with because of his integrity and hard work.

Chuck coached and played basketball, helped start the women’s hockey team and 3-on-3 Ice Hockey Tournaments. He spent time at the High School gym and local hockey arena and was his kids’ number one fan and coach. When the kids left home he became very involved at the Tennis Club and played basketball where he continued in his competitive nature.

Chuck’s faith in Jesus was seen by his sincere heart and the actions that followed. He was an elder at St Germain Free Church and helped with several community events and fundraisers, where he brought  wisdom and discernment to everything he was involved in.

His family continues to grow with eleven precious grandchildren who know him as Papa. Chuck loved teaching his grandchildren to water ski and play sports. He wanted them to know the love of God and was so very proud of them. God has blessed him with a wonderful family!

When diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer in January 2018 he was devastated however his faith carried him.  Chuck told everyone “God has me in His Hands” and looked at the positives rather than the negatives. With God at his side he went through chemo treatments, brain surgery, radiation and clinical trials, but the cancer continued to grow. He had gone through every possible treatment and continued to claim: “in my weakness God will make me strong”.  As his body weakened, his faith strengthened. On December 19th Chuck’s last words were “Praise God” as he entered heaven! His wish for his family and friends is to embrace life today for no one knows what tomorrow may bring.

A celebration service will be on Saturday, Jan 4, at noon at St Germain Free Church, 6065 Hwy 70 East, St Germain.  Family will welcome attendees beginning at 10 AM. There will be a light lunch afterwards.

In lieu of donating flowers, please consider:  a donation to the nonprofit Northwoods Share (PO Box 1162 Eagle River, WI 54521)  or a gift towards a Chuck Zaugg memorial garden to be constructed in the spring. Chuck lived a life that was filled with integrity and purpose.  As we shared in the service we thank God for these last 2 years and the closeness it brought for Chuck to God and for each of us to each other.

You are a part of this journey for you took time to pray and to support us in various ways.
THANK YOU!   Please understand how much your prayers mean and still mean as we move forward!

Here is the link to the service in case any of you were not able to watch it. (copyright laws took the music away from the slide shows but everything else is there).

God is working in our family as we all miss Chuck so much.  There is an empty place that we will continue to claim his spirit and feel his presence with us.  He is still with us in so many ways!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…. Hebrews 12:1-2. We believe Chuck is part of that cloud of witnesses!  He wants us to move forward and keep loving..  keep living...  "Work hard and play hard".... "If a job is worth doing, do it right!".... His last verse claimed:  “This is the day the Lord has made;  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”  Psalm 118:24

As I say goodbye to all of you, my friends through Caring Bridge, please hear me when I say you have been a part of this journey and we thank you!  Chuck would want to invite you to come and share our Northwoods Paradise with us!  Please contact me and let me know if you want to visit.  Share your involvement here with me and your interaction in this journey.  Your prayers are now holding me as I move forward.. God is carrying us and He is a faithful God!

Sarah Young says this in her book,
Jesus Lives: "Recognize that you are on the threshold of a new adventure, and that I will be with you each step of the way.  As we venture out together cling tightly to My Hand.  The more you abandon yourself to Me, the more exuberantly you can experience My Love"  Chuck's amazing love for me is what I miss so much, but God has promised to love me more!

“There is no greater love than this: that a person (Jesus) lays down his life for his friends!”  John 15:13

Thank you all for praying for our family!  God continues to carry us!  He has given us precious time together and many promises. Yesterday I was given this gift to remind me of what our son Jeff shared at the celebration service. I pray it will challenge each of you as it has myself.

Thank you and please remember our home is open for you to come visit!  The service video is still on line and I find it so God filled to watch again and again. We miss Chuck terribly but are trying to keep our focus on God here working in our lives!
We love you and please keep in touch!

Lean not on your own understanding!”
“Fear not for I am with you!”
“All things work together for good to those who love God”
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I WILL FEAR NO EVIL!”
