It has been 6 months since Chuck left me for Heaven and life will never be the same..  God has been carrying me in amazing ways and I want to thank each of you for your prayers and encouragement!  I am living life on the wings of an eagle soaring as I place my hopes on Jesus!  He is helping me to walk and not faint and run and not grow weary!  Isaiah 40:31

“Those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint”

As I reflect on our marriage and celebrate today God has taken the verse that Chuck claimed to teach me a deeper trust in His ways are Always best.  Proverbs 3:5-6:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths!”

Our marriage was deep, passionate and intimate.  I miss Chuck's touch and tenderness terribly, but God has shown us His love is even more passionate and more tender and even more intimate!  Completeness can only be found in Jesus.  I have to discipline my mind to keep this focus as often I find myself wishing things were different.  Please keep praying for me!  However God has a new life for me here and as I move forward I hope to invite each of you to come and spend time in Chuck's Northwoods Paradise!
"I will trust in God's unfailing love.  I will rejoice because He has rescued me!"  Psalm 13:5

Thank you Friends for all your prayers and cards these past 18 weeks!  It has been quite the interesting time with the Covid-19 and Shelter at Home along with now starting to prepare for summer here at the resort without Chuck!

Chuck had wanted to share God's goodness and His faithfulness throughout his illness with all and that is my goal this summer as our guests come to visit.  We also received sweet donations to build a Memorial Garden for Chuck here along Anvil Lake and hope to have it ready to show you and share how God has worked!

Lastly we have decided to downsize... even before Chuck's passing, and I am trying to sell our four 4-bedroom chalets.  I believe God wants me to keep The Lodge and share it with larger families, meaning our big family can also enjoy it 9 months of the year and rent it during the summer to others.

God is now my Husband and He promises to love me even better than Chuck did as I stay close to Him.  He is passionate in His love and even though it is hard to imagine anyone who could be as passionate and loving as Chuck was, I am claiming that God's ways are ALWAYS the best ways and better than we can imagine.  I pray each of you know how much our God loves us!

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways,” says the Lord, “for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts!”  Isaiah 55:8-9

Thank you all for praying for our family!  God continues to carry us!  He has given us precious time together and many promises. Yesterday I was given this gift to remind me of what our son Jeff shared at the celebration service. I pray it will challenge each of you as it has myself.

Thank you and please remember our home is open for you to come visit!  The service video is still on line and I find it so God filled to watch again and again. We miss Chuck terribly but are trying to keep our focus on God here working in our lives!
We love you and please keep in touch!

Lean not on your own understanding!”
“Fear not for I am with you!”
“All things work together for good to those who love God”

Chuck lived a life that was filled with integrity and purpose.  As we shared in the service we thank God for these last 2 years and the closeness it brought for Chuck to God and for each of us to each other.

You are a part of this journey for you took time to pray and to support us in various ways.
THANK YOU!   Please understand how much your prayers mean and still mean as we move forward!

Here is the link to the service in case any of you were not able to watch it. (copyright laws took the music away from the slide shows but everything else is there).

God is working in our family as we all miss Chuck so much.  There is an empty place that we will continue to claim his spirit and feel his presence with us.  He is still with us in so many ways!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…. Hebrews 12:1-2. We believe Chuck is part of that cloud of witnesses!  He wants us to move forward and keep loving..  keep living...  "Work hard and play hard".... "If a job is worth doing, do it right!".... His last verse claimed:  “This is the day the Lord has made;  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”  Psalm 118:24

As I say goodbye to all of you, my friends through Caring Bridge, please hear me when I say you have been a part of this journey and we thank you!  Chuck would want to invite you to come and share our Northwoods Paradise with us!  Please contact me and let me know if you want to visit.  Share your involvement here with me and your interaction in this journey.  Your prayers are now holding me as I move forward.. God is carrying us and He is a faithful God!

Sarah Young says this in her book,
Jesus Lives: "Recognize that you are on the threshold of a new adventure, and that I will be with you each step of the way.  As we venture out together cling tightly to My Hand.  The more you abandon yourself to Me, the more exuberantly you can experience My Love"  Chuck's amazing love for me is what I miss so much, but God has promised to love me more!

“There is no greater love than this: that a person (Jesus) lays down his life for his friends!”  John 15:13

We also want to share Chuck's obituary:

“Just another day in Paradise”  was the common phrase heard by Chuck as he enjoyed life with his wife and family in the beautiful northwoods of Wisconsin. Integrity, Vision, Hard Work, and Sacrifice write the story of an amazing man that has moved from Paradise to PARADISE.

Gene “Chuck” Zaugg died peacefully at home in Eagle River, WI on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 at the age of 67. He was born May 2, 1952 in Rockford, IL to Ben and Lydia (Schafer) Zaugg with older brothers Gerald, Lynn, Larry and sister Nancy. The “Work hard and play hard” Zaugg moto was ingrained in him starting very young while working excavation for his older brother Jerry and Zaugg Excavation. This led to building homes at the young age of 21 and becoming a realtor/broker to market and sell them.

In 1976 he married Pamela (Nyquist) whom he loved and cared for until he was taken home to Heaven. They had four children; Jessica (Kendal) Baker, Jeffrey (Michelle) Zaugg, Jonathon (Tamara) Zaugg and Jinelle (Michael) Siergiej, all living in the Greater Twin Cities of MN. Chuck was an amazing dad who loved and challenged his kids to do the best in all they did.

Chuck’s gift of being a visionary led to risk-taking when he brought his family to Eagle River, WI in 1992 to turn a deserted boys camp into Zaugg’s Resort on Anvil Lake. With the family as his crew, Chuck taught his kids to work hard and made sacrifices to see his dream fulfilled. His faith and integrity was seen in everything he did and Chuck believed “a job worth doing is worth doing right.” He built hundreds of custom quality homes and impacted everyone he worked with because of his integrity and hard work.

Chuck coached and played basketball, helped start the women’s hockey team and 3-on-3 Ice Hockey Tournaments. He spent time at the High School gym and local hockey arena and was his kids’ number one fan and coach. When the kids left home he became very involved at the Tennis Club and played basketball where he continued in his competitive nature.

Chuck’s faith in Jesus was seen by his sincere heart and the actions that followed. He was an elder at St Germain Free Church and helped with several community events and fundraisers, where he brought  wisdom and discernment to everything he was involved in.

His family continues to grow with eleven precious grandchildren who know him as Papa. Chuck loved teaching his grandchildren to water ski and play sports. He wanted them to know the love of God and was so very proud of them. God has blessed him with a wonderful family!

When diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer in January 2018 he was devastated however his faith carried him.  Chuck told everyone “God has me in His Hands” and looked at the positives rather than the negatives. With God at his side he went through chemo treatments, brain surgery, radiation and clinical trials, but the cancer continued to grow. He had gone through every possible treatment and continued to claim: “in my weakness God will make me strong”.  As his body weakened, his faith strengthened. On December 19th Chuck’s last words were “Praise God” as he entered heaven! His wish for his family and friends is to embrace life today for no one knows what tomorrow may bring.

A celebration service will be on Saturday, Jan 4, at noon at St Germain Free Church, 6065 Hwy 70 East, St Germain.  Family will welcome attendees beginning at 10 AM. There will be a light lunch afterwards.

In lieu of donating flowers, please consider:  a donation to the nonprofit Northwoods Share (PO Box 1162 Eagle River, WI 54521)  or a gift towards a Chuck Zaugg memorial garden to be constructed in the spring. Today we are reminded that our God loves us deeply and knows how best to care for us.  Sometimes we try to tell God what He should do.. and that is never a good thing!  Chuck entered Heaven today. He went  peacefully early this morning, and we are claiming his complete healing miracle happened there.  As we look back there were many little healings along the way and God was very gracious in allowing us these last 100 weeks together to prepare for life apart.  God brought us support that allowed us to focus on each other when often people cannot do that.

To share the final details: Tuesday was a rough day with lungs filling with mucous and an awful fight to get it out and breathe. Yesterday was a quiet day with Chuck in a comatose and not so much discomfort.  Last night our nurse warned me that things could become difficult, but instead it was very special. We shared Chuck's last night alone together. As I sat next to him I watched for his eyes to open and went over to tell him how much I loved him, and how he has been an amazing husband and father.  He was struggling to move or respond, but then he moved his hand over to mine and gripped it with eyes clear and focused.  God gave us these special moments as Chuck was moving from earth to Heaven.  He died very peacefully early this morning after I had one last chance to whisper ny love in his ear.

Chuck would ask each of you to love God and Praise Him. Those were some of his last words, “Praise God” as we claimed Bible verses as our sword to fight this sickness .  We claim hope and can know that Chuck is with Jesus.  I can hear this song ringing: https://youtu.be/lZu7mfYS_VY.

Next he would thank each of you for your support and prayers!  You all have been incredible and we are so blessed.  He would challenge you to love your spouse deeply, live life together with your families, and remember PARADISE is coming and no one knows what may happen tomorrow!  We pray that you have received the invitation to Heaven from Jesus our Savior!

Life will never be the same here without Chuck.  We must remember his saying early on: "God has me in His Hands!"  God welcomed him with His great love, and His love is greater than mine. It is now my job to remember that God loves me more than Chuck did, and to live my life with His love holding me close.  This  is hard to imagine for we loved deeply.  I am now letting God hold me in His Hands!

I will cling to God’s love knowing He never makes mistakes, and His ways are always the best ways. .Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
I will remember that God never makes mistakes and He knows what He is doing!  Heaven's timetable is forever while time here is short.  I will see Chuck again, and I can feel his presence will be all around us as he now has that 4 dimensional ability to see us!  Let's not get so busy here on earth that we forget our purpose really is Heaven.

With Christmas a few days from now I also want to turn our focus to Jesus, Whom Chuck is with now! This song reminds me of Heaven! Mary asked for Breath of Heaven to hold her together....  I am asking the same..  Please no comparison to Mary... just our need to focus on our Holy God!    https://youtu.be/L8_475FKJWQ

Merry Christmas loved ones!  We plan to celebrate Chuck's life after the new year and I will keep you posted.  We hope to celebrate his PARADISE along with all God has given us here in our Northwoods Paradise!  We love you. Chuck and Pam

Thank you all for coming together to pray for Chuck and myself and asking God to heal him with a miracle!  We believe our God knows us inside and out!  We believe God has a plan and each of us needs to continue to live life one day at a time.  Our lives have had a push this past few weeks into thinking about our future.  God is in control and we go to His Word to use as our lifeline!  We cannot thank you all enough for what it means to be surrounded by so many friends and family who are praying!  Your love has brought us to tears again and again.

Just a timeline for everyone to know what happened:

Jan 21. Sunday    Chuck goes in with chest heaviness and right side weakness thinking this flu was lingering.  EKG and chest X-rays along with blood test; they asked him to come back Monday for blood tests for cholesterol and Tuesday to go to Minocqua for a stress test

Jan 23….Tuesday Chuck started stress test but doctor  stopped the test.  echogram and we stressed his right side weakness. This sent us to St Claires in Westin… a heart hospital.

At St Claires emergency room again EKG, chest cat scan and head cat scan.  Next an MRI to head…   This showed a tumor in his brain..  now to call in neurologist along with cardiologist and oncologist.

In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses.  We know ALL things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His Purpose!  Rom 8:28.  God’s purpose!  Every detail.. every person… every situation has a purpose so we pray not to miss it!

Jan 24…Wednesday both Pastor Josh and Jeff came to visit and Chuck was sent for an angiogram to check his heart.  No large blockage and no stint needed!  Praising God so now we focus more on the head.. Because this is a heart hospital they tried to move us to Marshfield but beds were full.  We spent the night with heart monitors and Jeff headed to Eagle River to care for critters and do some chores..Jeff shared the ned to worship God both in good and bad:

Job 1. At this bad news Job got up, tore his robe, shaved his head, fell to the ground in worship!

Jan 25…Thursday Chuck had three scans to check for more tumors… chest, belly and pelvic. two spots turned up on lungs.  We now were told lung cancer..  . Jeff came back and we got word there was a bed in Marshfield and a surgeon could do a biopsy there..  Jeff headed home and we headed to Marshfield. Claire Reese took over with animals & house back homeUpon meeting with doctor there were told we had to do PET scan before biopsy

Deut 20:34. Hear Israel Today you are going into battle against your enemies.  Do not be fainthearted or afraid.  Do not panic or be terrified.  For the Lord your God is the One Who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory!

Jan 26…Friday we await doing the PET scan and now were told they did not have the medicine to do so… and we will have to wait until Monday.

Saturday a visit from Kris and Jack and great time in hospital together..

Jan 28  Sunday had church together

Psalms 23. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death. I will fear NO evil for You are with me!

More visits from Jean Rockwell and friends and Eagle River friends.. Dave and Scott..  Jean shared

Isaiah 41:6. Fear not for I am with you… Do not be dismayed.. I am your God!  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand!

Jan 29…Monday PET scan and Jess, Jeff and Jon come to be with us.  We pray healing!  Good news. We have only two spots on lung and one at base of trachea.. in a lymph node.  Biopsy will not happen until Tuesday..

Jan 30…Tuesday Jinelle and Mike come Chuck goes into surgery and Dr Wolfe gets a good piece for biopsy.. yes, it looks cancerous.  Trouble comes when he goes to take breathing tube out… Chuck had a reaction and could not breathe so he had to be intubated again… we have to stay in ICU and he must be on ventilator through the night.  This was his worse night ever… he really thought he was going to die.

Psalm 46. God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the depth of the sea. …..  We run to God as our Refuge but we also must   Be still and Know I am God!

Jan 31…Wednesday Tube taken out and much better…. Jinelle and Mike have to head home.  Dr Leon comes in with the news…. Stay 4 lung cancer spread to brain and lymph node,.  Only short time to live and need to send tissue to be tested for a mutation.  If it is a mutation better chance of fighting it and living longer.  Praying for that!  Sent samples out that night!

Romans 8. Those who live by flesh set minds on flesh and those who live by the Spirit set their minds on the Spirit!  The mind of the flesh is death but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace!  … If the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead is living right in you He who raised Christ will also give life to you!  FOCUS.  We need to keep FOCUSED. God Has THIS!  Be still… praying…. Hoping….

Feb 1…Thursday Jon and Tamara come and a stream of doctors visit.  Dr Leon returns to explain better and  we pray!

Ps 34. I sought the Lord and He answered me… and delivered me from all my fears!  Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces shall never be ashamed .  The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them.  Taste and see the LORD is good!  Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.  Listen!  What man is there who desires life and loves many days that he may see good?  ...Seek Peace and pursue it!   When the righteous cry for help the LORD delivers them!  STOP the worry and SEEK the peace..  We are to really Taste this and allow God to work… not just push it aside and hope for the best… Taste that means swallow and really let it become part of who we are…  and radiant… yes radiation to the head~!

Feb 2…Friday Jeff come to join us and the Gamma Knife procedure is done to Chuck’s head to start killing the tumor there!  Procedure goes well and Jeff drives along with us to Eagle River to help us settle..,  HOME SWEET HOME. It has been 10 days since we left!

Ps 128 Joy comes as we fear and respect our LORD and obey Him in all our ways.  Work hard and receive this Joy!  …. We ask the LORD to bless us and let us see the prosperity of our children and our grandchildren!  Peace!  We want to live life…. Phil 1: Whatever happens conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ.  Stand firm in One Spirit!    Let Christ be exalted in my body whether by life or by death,  For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain!  … I am torn between the two

GOD HAS THIS~!

Mark 9 is the story when the father brings his son to be healed… the disciples cannot do it… Jesus comes to the father who asks, But if you can do anything take pity on us and help us…. Jesus replies..If you can?  Everything is possible for one who believes,.  Immediately the father exclaimed. I DO BELIEVE. Help me with my unbelief!~. and Jesus tells disciples this kind only comes out by prayer!   Please keep praying for our faith~!  Thank you for your prayers!

Feb 3…Saturday Jeff helps with chores and Chuck settles in. We rest over the weekend. Sunday, Feb 4 we stay home

Feb 5-7….Mon-Wed Chuck rests and gains strength.    Pam had an opportunity at the Northwoods Share Community Dinner on Tuesday night to share first Valentines greetings and the love Jesus shows us is what Northwoods Share is all about!  We have a heart and want to share Jesus love with each person who we have opportunity to visit with.  Second at Valentines celebrate love in relationships!  It was with tears she mentioned her love for Chuck and challenged couples to not take that for granted!  Dr Scott Beattie shared the devo and simply share how one is saved!  Salvation is from Jesus!  At birthday bag time Pam took time to ask for prayer.  She asked who at the dinner had had cancer… and several raised their hands.  Next she shared that Chuck has cancer and it is a very bad type.  She shared their world has been changed and a big reminder that we do not know what may happen tomorrow!  She then said she wanted to take each person by the shoulders and shake them to really understand they must know that Jesus wants to save them and they must take this opportunity to ask Jesus for life in Heaven.  Father Jim prayed for Chuck and Pam and then birthday bags were a chance to celebrate life!

Psalms 41 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak for the LORD delivers them in times of trouble!  The LORD protects and preserves them.  They are counted among the blessed in the land.  He does not give them over to the desires of their foes.  The LORD sustains them on their sick bed and restores them from their bed of illness.,  I said Have mercy on me, LORD!  Heal me for I have sinned against You!

Thursday. Appointment with Doctor Gary Pusatori who basically cheered us on to live healthy and build a “big trailer” to fight this!

"Don't be afraid.  Just trust Me."

The Lord's Lighthouse
by Kathie Iselin ©    fromPapaGod.com
Though I long for clear skies with the sun overhead...
Once again I'm left facing dark storm clouds instead.
As wind whipped waves of frustration now wash over me...
I find myself powerless upon life's stormy sea.
Tossed about as dense fog obscures my sight...
So weary from trying to fight the good fight.
Wondering where I'm headed frantically searching for...
That bright guiding beam of Light coming from the shore.
For without this beacon to illuminate my life...
I'd lay lost and shipwrecked on the rocky shores of strife.
So I've learned to seek the Lord's Lighthouse when tempest waters roll...
In search of the Ray of Hope which brings comfort to my soul.
Clinging now to His Promises, as I would a life boat...
I feel the strength of my Savior's Love, keeping me afloat.
Discovering in my darkness, adversity's hidden key...
Which unlocks the "treasure" found in the depths of this raging sea.
For tho deep waters draw me down, the Lord's Light won't grow dim...
Enabling me to delve deeper, into the depths of Him!

"Lord, You have brought light to my life;
my God, You light up my darkness."
Psalm 18:28 NLT

Friday  We contacted MAYO to see about the second opinion to find out they never received the paper work!  I called records in Marshfield and Peggy admitted they had missed them and they were still sitting to be sent.  Later in the day she confirmed MAYO has them now.

Appointment with Dr Yasar oncologist in Minocqua was VERY DISAPPOINTING…. Found out the biopsy samples are still sitting in the lab in Marshfield and have not been sent out.  She apologized and just said these things happen. She offered hope that Chuck’s cancer is probably a mutation since he never smoked and that she is optimistic in treatment that could be as simple as a pill to take. She also opened the door for the cancer then to go into remission.  She then did a brief physical and stopped to point out the lymph node near his shoulder blade where she said they could always do another biopsy!  We told her the cancer had not traveled there!  She wondered why they did the bronchial biopsy~!  We felt she did not understand Chuck’s cancer

Wait and See that the Lord is GOOD~!  Be STILL and KNOW that I AM GOD!  Isaiah 40:31. Those who hope in the LORD renew their strength and sour on wings like eagles; they run and do not grow weary and walk and do not faint!

Feb 10-13 Chuck is really struggling with lack of sleep.  He is getting only 3-4 hours a night and then taking a couple naps during the day.,  His mind is moving as he wants to “get his house in order”!  The decision to sell the resort and how to move forward is overwhelming.  A neighbor has shown interest and met with us several times working on numbers and financing.    Feb 14th Valentines Day to celebrate love~!  Time together and home sweet home!

"I am lonely and
troubled.
My awful worries
keep growing.
Rescue me from
sadness."
Psalm 25:16, 17 CEV

"Why am I discouraged?  Why so sad?
I will put my hope in God."
Psalm 43:5 NLT

Walking through the Valley
by Kathie Iselin ©  fromPapaGod.com
Oh Abba Father please reach down Your strong Hand...
For this road's lonely and and I don't understand.
As Your Child, I know in all this I'm not alone...
Yet as darkness closes in I need to be shown.
The path is unfamiliar with no end in sight...
As I stumble in darkness searching for Your Light.
My heart is heavy and at times I'm filled with fear...
Please rescue and deliver me by drawing near.
Help me to rely on You trusting You know best...
Gather me close and in Your Arms let me find rest.
Surround me with Your Peace & touch me with Your Grace...
As you strengthen me for whatever I must face.
Fortify me with Your Love whenever I grow weak...
Reminding me it's through faith I gain the strength I seek.
Contend for me through this battle and in its aftermath...
By bestowing Your Wisdom as I walk this unknown path.
Illuminate the way so I can clearly see...
Revealing the hidden snares Satan's set for me.
As I walk through this valley let me not dismay...
By allowing me to feel Your Presence every day.
Please  guide me on this journey for I know not what to do...
While whispering softly to my heart come I'll carry you.

"Do not be afraid or discouraged...
For the battle is not yours, but God's."
2 Chronicles 20:15 NIV

Sheltered Within My Fortress

Feb 15-18 Kris and Jack O’Brien come to visit.  We walked and fed the birds at Anvil Trails.  We got out but Chuck still had his afternoon nap every night for still not sleeping.  Time with friends is the best!  We enjoyed snow shoeing, playing games, and sharing together!

Psalm 130 Out of depths (cancer fears) I cry to You LORD YHWH !  Lord Master Jehovah hear my voice and let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy!  If you kept record of sin who could stand? (unbelief). I wat for the LORD my whole being waits; in His Word I put my hope!  Israel (Family) put your hope in YHWH with JHWH is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.

Feb 19 cleaning chalets and driving to Rochester (in an ice storm) for our first appointment with Dr Mansfield!  We have chosen to celebrate life and take these “get aways” as date moments so off to Rochester Inn and the Outback!  We are thankful friend Dr Mark Loehrke had a connection here and we were able to get this appointment.  We felt this was of God for Dr Mansfield was leaving that night for a month away!

Feb 20 started with blood tests and chest xrays.  Dr Mansfield’s  PA Anne took time to really review our case.  She also showed us on the PET scan that Chuck had more spots of cancer in his body.  Both lungs and other lymph nodes have been affected.  This was disappointing as we were hoping for news that we may do radiation, but since cancer has spread we continue to pray for a mutation.  We felt Mayo is the best place for us to be!

Dr Mansfield suggested we find an insurance plan for medications.  He said a pill would be used for some of the mutations that could cost over $10,000 a month!  Concern now crept in and we had some phone calls to make.  However before that we took lunch to review all this info at Olive Garden and enjoy each other…. We arrived at Jon and Tamara’s home for afternoon play time with Byron and Zoe!  Snow slides and dancing to music brought smiles.  Holding little Zoe and a nice meatloaf dinner together were perfect!  Wednesday we headed home vis Wausau and shopping.  Jerry had taken good care of our horses and dogs… So thankful for neighbors who are willing to help out!

Your Heart's Treasure
by Kathie Iselin  ©   fromPapaGod.com
May your soul experience the Savior's Love - so rare and true...
And may the glory of God's Presence - touch the world around you.
May the sound of His Voice and Word, become
your heart's treasure...
And through Him; may you experience joy in full measure.
May you walk in the Light of His Presence, each and every day...
Wrapped in the warmth and wonder, of His Love whenever you pray.
May your walk reflect a forgiving heart and listening ear...
One that seeks and follows the path, where His Spirit remains near.
May you live a life that's blessed, beyond what you have ever dreamed...
And may you have a powerful witness, so more are redeemed.
As He continues to watch over and protect from above...
May the God of all Life - keep you in the shelter of His Love.
May you forever feel awe and amazement, in His Son...
And may you never lose that child-like faith, that's now begun.
For the greatness of His Glory, now shines brightly on your face...
Radiant in the knowledge and gift of everlasting grace.

"May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too
great to understand fully.  Then you will be made complete
with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."
Ephesians 3:19 NLT

Feb 22-23Thursday back home and Friday we heard from the neighbor that she was no longer interested in buying The Lodge… We had been hoping to have this sold but only one hour later we received a call from a long-time family friend who said he was interested in The Lodge and three of the 4-bedroom homes to purchase and run as a resort!  God direct our steps!  Tonight we join our neighbors at a fish fry and share both our cancer story and the fact we are selling the resort.  We want to glorify God in every step!

Feb 24-28 Saturday and Sunday brought more time with friends as we enjoyed a game night and then time after church with friends!  It was good to be at church with our church body!  Hugs are dangerous!  So many praying friends!  The week started out with Chuck again not sleeping and him trying to figure out how to promote our homes to this future buyer.  Many phone calls and good communication with hopes!  Time to wait again for life takes time to figure things out and we were told an answer by March 20th.

Monday Feb 26 we received the c all we have been waiting for… yes, we have a mutation… BUT. It is ERBB2 and very rare with no cure!  Good news/bad news…. We believe there is a reason and pray for a cure!

Deut 30:19. “Choose Life!  Love the Lord, Listen and Hold Fast to Him! “

Psalm 130:5. “I wait for the LORD, with my whole being I wait!  In His Word I put my hope!”

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future!  Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me and I will listen to you!  You seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart!  I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and will bring you back from captivity (cancer).

Thursday March 1 after cleaning a chalet and plowing we head to Mayo for our first chemo treatment!  Again these are date opportunities so we started out with a special stop at Eagle Roasters for a special coffee!  Upon turning into the parking lot we were greeted by Father Jim Fosdick from St Mary of the Snow…. He wanted us to know many are praying and asked if he could pray for us~!  YES!  Next he prayed the prayer of Hezekiah that God would grant Chuck 15 more years and heal him!~. We were thankful and after parking entered the back shop looking for owner Dan Beihoff to say hi to him.  Dan had time to share with us a very special painting that his grandfather had had made!  It was about his grandmother having cancer and his grandfather had asked God to heal her!  The painting is a picture of the Holy Spirit in form of a dove, the cross and the light with the triangle of the trinity!

John 14:25,26 “These things I have spoken to you while yet dwelling with you.  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your mind whatever I have said to you.”….

We were blessed and Dan handed us cards to share with others.  He shared that people have been healed from cancer with this painting and the truth it represents and Chuck is the next one!   Next as getting our coffee we saw two gals whom both said they had been praying for us!  They shared God’s work in healing and anointing oil!   One said she had some oil for us to use from a “Liquid Bible” that has proven healing!  Now we are on the road to study a book given to us to read by friends who felt God had shown truths to share about holistic ways to fight cancer!  One struck us that is approved by FDA… Flax hulls…??  God lead us!

Thursday night we checked into he Quality Inn and a date night to Applebys!  Friday morning early starts chemo and we were up very early ready to check in at Mayo at 8 AM!

March 2 we me with PA Anne who again answered many questions now that we had received the word about ERBB2 found out yes, she has treated this but it all depends on the person as does how chemo affects one.. Dr Mansfield has prescribed a combo of chemo therapy and immune therapy for Chuck.  Chemo started at 11:30 and we entered the chemo side of Mayo Clinic.  Folks here are so very nice and helpful.  We were to be here 4 hours and yes, treated with a three-way cocktail!  Chemo Cocktail! First IV for 30 minutes pembrolizumab (Ketruda) Second IV after 30 minute break pemetrexed (Alimta) Third IV after 30 minute break is Carboplatin for 30 minutes.   DONE~!  We head to the truck and Chuck is feeling well enough to drive home!  Stopping only at Arbys for supper we arrived home by 9:30.  We took time on the way home to read and discuss Hezekiah’s story:

2 Kings 18-20 Hezekiah becomes king and is a good king following in David’s ways.  He put his whole trust in the God of Israel.  There was no king like him either before or after and he held fast to God.  He never loosened his grip and obeyed to the letter all God commanded!    Bad things happened because Israel would not listen to God.  Hezekiah tells the king of Assyria Israel was wrong and would pay them back   Hezekiah made bad choices by taking silver from God’s temple and then Hezekiah tears his robe and goes into the temple. Hezekiah prayed to God.  Maker of Heaven and Earth!  Open your ears and listen and open your eyes and hear, SAVE US~!  You are God…. Thant night the angel of God came and massacred 185,000 Assyrians!  Next Hezekiah gets sick and Isaiah comes to tell him, “Put your affairs in order for you are about to die!”  Hezekiah prays to God,  “Remember God who I am and what I have done.  I’ve lived honest before you and my heart has been true and steady.  I’ve lived to please You.”  Hezekiah wept and Isaiah then heard from God “Go back and tell Hezekiah I have listened and seen your tears.  I am going to heal you!  In 3 days you will walk on your own legs into the Temple of God.  I have added 15 years to your life!”  Next they boiled a fig plaster and applied it to eh king and he was on his way to recovery.  However he asked how to know this is of God or not just the fig plaster?…. He asked for a sign and then Isaiah asked do you want God to advance the shadow on the stairs 10 degrees or have it go back 10 degrees?  Hezekiah thought it too easy to go forward so asked for it to go back and the shadow went back.. The story goes on..

Saturday March 3 we thanked Jerry for his help and had him and Sioux over for dinner and Sunday we went to church again with Chuck feeling great!  Monday March 5th  …. Jinelle gave birth to her second son.. our 10th grandchild Rory Randall Siergiej!  NEW LIFE~!

We celebrate with Jinelle and Mike!  However Chuck is not feeling as well and fever starts climbing…. By night time to 99.9 and we pray it goes down…. Our doctor gave strict instructions if fever goes to 100.5 you must go to the emergency room!  Thanking God it went down.  Chuck is now starting to sleep for got some perscription sleeping aids and finally more sleep!~

Tuesday was another day Chuck just did not feel well and had low grade fever with it again rising at night.  He is now taking 2-3 naps per day as well as sleeping 7 hours at night!  Thankfully temp went down again later evening.  Pam went to the community dinner again and was greeted by many folks from 3 Lakes Free Church with hugs of encouragement and wanting her to know they are praying!  Coming home that night Chuck was not happy with the hugs!  We must beware of infection and germs….  He slept well again!  Wednesday at Needs Ministry Pam is much more careful and when guests came in coughing she left and went home!  Chuck seems better and continues to take naps and sleep better.  Thursday and Friday both find him feeling stronger and no temp!
