Christy’s Story

Site created on March 25, 2020

Please feel free to sign my guestbook. I love reading messages.

My name is Christy Walk. I live in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania with my mom, a dog and a cat.

My autism journey began on October 12, 1987. I got very sick with menengitis, and my mom sent me to the hospital that day. I was diagnosed with autism shortly after. I am one of the lucky ones that survived the menengitis. I’m so glad and thankful that I’m still alive after I had beat death at such a young age. I am brave and strong and a fighter. I always have been and always will be a fighter that is brave and strong. I fought against menengitis and I’m glad I did. I’m so happy I fought against menengitis.

Every mother’s worst fear is when their child gets sick with menengitis or any other disease. My mom was scared for me considering I was sick with the menengitis. I was only a baby when my journey as somebody who has autism started. I had menengitis when I was very young. I’m so thankful that my mom got me to the hospital when she did, because if I didn’t go to the hospital that day, I could have died from the menengitis. After all I’ve been through, I’m so thankful and happy to be alive today.

Autism is hard but  it doesn’t define me. I’m so thankful that I’m still alive today, and I’m thankful that I can share my journey with all of you. I’m so thankful and happy that you are all here in my life.

Last night my mom brought me two bandanas from at her boyfriend's house. I love them very much. Here are pictures of the bandanas that I now have.
