Journal entry by Christine Richards —
My kids have helped me with the very difficult decision to cancel my delayed retirement party due to the Covid. Here are the things they put together to explain that hard decision.
Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel my mom's retirement party. She's touched so many lives, that we can't think of a good way to safely be able to all get together and celebrate her amazing career as a teacher! Thank you to everyone who was planning on attending - we hope to reschedule this in-person celebration later! We aren’t able to have her party liked planned so please help us celebrate her retirement virtually!

The attached picture is a newspaper notice the kids put in our paper.
I was hoping the party would be my closure; my teacher life ended so quickly and I didn’t have any time to get ready for it to end. A friend of mine told me “unfortunate that it did, but it will never end-all the lives you touched and the happiness you brought to others will live on forever and be celebrated every day. You have just turned a page in your book and now you will focus on being a grandma. A year will pass and you will find new daily happiness”. Wow, I need those beautiful, wise words to be confident going into the next chapter of my life with the amazing family and friends who support me.
