Newest Update

Journal entry by Suni Shehan

So.. it’s been a long time since the last update. I apologize to those of you still wondering about Chris’ progress. He’s doing much better both physically and mentally. Last Monday was his last physical therapy appointment, they feel his range of motion is pretty close to his right side and with his daily activity and stretching, he’ll be fine. We went to the orthopedic surgeon in IA City Thursday for an MRI and follow up visit. The MRI shows Chris’ scapula has healed, but is displaced. The Dr. took the weight restrictions off and said he wasn’t going to hold him back from using it. At his last speech therapy he wanted to go alone, so I waited outside. The pathologist agreed to only see him once a week since he is doing much better with the tasks. His memory is improving. If you talk with him for an hour or so you’d think he’s fine. Unfortunately, not everything he says is true or what actually happened. I did some research and this is called confabulation and it’s pretty common with brain injuries.
