Journal entry by Elaine Lacey

Hello All - It's been a while since I've journaled and I apologize for the delay.

Chris remains at Spaulding Cape Cod and is well taken care of.  His room is fully decorated with family and friends photographs, souvenirs,  get well cards and framed pictures that cover all the walls he can view. His windows overlook the front of the hospital with a large oak tree right outside his window and are now decorated for Easter and Spring. There are plenty of things for him to view.

Chris' skin cancer is progressing, especially the facial and chest lesions. He is now on daily pain medication four times a day, which has been increased, as his pain becomes more substantial. The doctors, nurses and we are taking facial cues from Chris to try to gauge his level of pain. It's hard to do when he can't tell you the level of his pain.

Chris had a swollen left arm for almost 2 months, which we thought maybe blood clots. The swelling has gone down and he is off limb precautions thankfully.

We read the newspaper, tell him stories and updates on life and the world, which gets crazier every day. We try to tell him the good and the bad, not laboring on the bad. We show him pictures on our phones, talk about the weather and watch sports and comedy shows daily.

If you'd like to visit or send a card the address is:
