Journal entry by Cheryl Hawkins —
Hi everyone. This is my story to date. I had a bad cough for almost a year. My doctors couldn't find any reason for the cough so I was referred to Pulmonary Specialist. After running tests, it was determined that I had some type of cancer. I was referred to a Thoracic Surgeon who performed a biopsy and found that I had a Thymic Carcinoma which is a cancer on my Thymus gland. It is a rare and aggressive cancer. I was scheduled for surgery to see if they could remove the tumor but unfortunately the cancer had spread and they would not have been able to get it all so I was stitched back up. I was then referred to an Oncologist to start chemo to try and shrink the tumors. I had my first chemotherapy on April 3. That is my story up to today.
