Journal entry by Cheryl Mitchell

Cheryl Louise Mitchell, age 57, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away on June 19th, 2019, at home surrounded by her family and friends, from Ovarian Cancer. Memorial services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Leawood, Kan. on Friday, June 28th at 1 p.m. There will be a celebration of life at Cheryl’s home following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Overrun Ovarian Cancer, team name: Cheryl Strong.

Cheryl was born on the 17th of January, 1962, in Macon, Missouri to her mother, Barbara Leuty and her father, Edward Leuty. Cheryl graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1980 moving on to William Woods where she earned her degrees in finance and economics in 1984. Cheryl had a successful career working as an executive in banking and finance, concluding her career at Henzlik Real Estate Companies. Cheryl raised and adored her 3 children: Jacob, Jessica and James. Cheryl was active in her community; volunteering with CASA and heavily involved in her children’s sports and extracurricular activities. More than anything, Cheryl absolutely loved being a Nana to her two grandchildren, Kennedy Mitchell and Shay Robinson. In Cheryl’s free time, she loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, shopping, listening to live music, and drinking margaritas. Those who knew Cheryl well, knew she was kind, generous, family-oriented, and had the biggest heart ever.

Cheryl is survived by her mother, Barbara Leuty; her father, Edward Leuty; her son, Jacob Mitchell, his wife Lauren and their daughter Kennedy; her daughter, Jessica Robinson, her husband Kyle and their son Shay; and her son, James Mitchell
