Chelsea’s Story

Site created on September 28, 2018

After several months of tests and surgery done by Columbia University in New York City, Chelsea was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on September 12, 2018.  Chelsea has relocated to the beautiful city of Denver with her boyfriend, Ben, to begin treatments at The Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. Chelsea is currently not working and focusing on her health over the next several months.

Family + Friends-

Round 3 treatment is complete! Ben and I are currently in Midtown getting my Neulasta shot and hydration now, then we have 20 more days until my next treatment! The countdown begins!

It was really great spending time with Danielle and her family in town from Indiana this past weekend, followed by my Dad, Maria and Carsyn in town Sunday through today for my treatment. Given the circumstances, it’s nice for all my friends and family to see where we are living and experience the Colorado lifestyle + get some TLC :)

As for the next few months- On November 26th I will get my mid treatment PET scan to see how I am reacting to the chemotherapy. I will receive my results on the 28th, which will be the day of my fourth treatment. Ben, Danielle and my Aunt Beverly will be present for the results. Doctor Jotte is very confident that it will be a celebration that the disease has cleared from my body. That would leave us with two more treatments on December 19th and January 9th. Fingers crossed all goes well!

We have a lot to look forward to these next few weeks. My brother and Megan are flying to NYC to move my things out of my apartment and take everything to their house in North Carolina. This is helping me a lot as it’s not ideal for me right now to fly or spend time in NY with the germs. We are planning for Corey + Megan to hopefully be in Denver for my last treatment and we can all celebrate together. Bens parents (Greg and Cori), brother (Brad), sister in law (Ashley), Niece (Ellie) and grandma (Sherrill) will be coming out for Thanksgiving on November 20th. The hospital organized a 3 story vacation home in Frisco, Colorado where we will spend the week. We have a lot of fun activities they have planned out for us and a lot of much needed rest + relaxation. It will be a nice getaway mid treatments!

I will be in touch with everyone following my scan results. Please say prayers and hope that everything is working as planned.

Thanks again for all your love and support!
