Chase’s Story

Site created on March 16, 2023

Chase Dolgos is a 16-year-old Sophomore at Kent County High School. He loves hunting and fishing and when he’s not doing that, he's spending time with friends and family & is continuing his one on one strength training.

Chase was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on March 15, 2023 after having typical viral symptoms for 3 weeks (cough, fevers, treated for bronchitis and the flu) before determining that Chase has leukemia. He is currently traveling monthly to A.I. Dupont Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware for his treatment. His parents, Amy, and John Dolgos have not left his side and travel with him to every appointment. Brinkley, his older brother is at home while they travel to helping take care of the family dogs and house. At the time of his diagnosis Chase went through the placement of a chest tube, several spinal taps, a PICC line placement, seizures, a Port placement and kidney dialysis along with chemotherapy which will continue for over TWO years.

We all know this has been and will continue to be a LONG journey for Chase and his family which include medical bills of astronomical size in addition to the upheaval of their lives while Amy and John continue to work and also get Chase the best treatment there is. We know during this time they will have quite a bit of expenses such as fuel, meals, vehicle maintenance and other things that insurance does not cover. This GoFundMe page has been set up to help relieve some of the financial burden to the family.

Several T-shirts, bracelets and yard signs have been designed to help show support for Chase's Leukemia journey and can be purchased with all the proceeds going to the family.

A Fight Like Chase Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/fightlikechase) and Instagram Page (https://www.instagram.com/fightlikechase/) along with a CaringBridge (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/chasesfight) site have been established to keep everyone updated on Chase. If you have questions or would like to learn more, please reach out to Jennifer Nutley, [phone redacted] or Amy Dolgos, [phone redacted]. You can send either one of them a text and they will get back to you.

If you would like to send Chase a card, please mail it to 8243 Whispering Pines Lane, Chestertown, MD 21620.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Amy Dolgos

We celebrated!  🎊 Friday was 1 year  from Chase being diagnosed with Leukemia!  🎗️We celebrated everyone and everything!  Doctors, nurses, aides, friends, family & most of all everyone who has supported our family throughout this past year.  We have gained so many friends over this past year those that will always be special to our family. ❤️

I was having a hard time trying to figure what to write about this past year, Brinkley's thoughts were perfect. If you are on Facebook take a look at Brinkley's post about Chase. 💙

Checkout the cake Jensen made for Chase, these two have been best buds from the very beginning, I am so glad they have a relationship like Jenn and I do.  You may not see it often but when you do you know how special it is!

While 1 year is down, we still have over a year to go! Chase is currently in the maintenance phase of his treatment.   We still travel once a month back and forth to DuPont and then 1 full week back and forth every three months.  It is nice to finally have some normalcy back in our lives.  Chase is back in school, hanging out with his friends, enjoying life as he should! Fishing season is upon us and that is one of his favorite things to do so I am sure we will be spending the nice days fishing! 🎣

He is also continuing the program by the Goliath Project.  The Goliath Project's goal is to come alongside student athletes who are in remission from pediatric cancer and equip them with the tools and resources necessary to begin their return to athletics. They do this by partnering with athletic trainers, nutritionists, and mental health supports in the community who have experience and knowledge in treating and assisting children recovering from cancer. So, Chase has begun his training with Coach Coop at The Edge Training Academy in Stevensville MD. 💪 We are so thankful for this opportunity and thankful for Coach Coop! Checkout one of Brinkley's videos he has made to document Chase's journey.  Chase Video with Coach Coop

We will continue to update throughout the next year.  We want to thank each and everyone of you for your continued love, prayers and support!  We are so blessed! 💟
