Charlsa’s Story

Site created on July 26, 2018

There isn’t enough space in this box to describe my Mother, Charlsa Golden. Her doctors have described her as a walking miracle, as she has survived her liposarcoma (cancer of the fatty tissues) since 1999.
Mom is a vibrant, cheerful, loving person, not just to her family and friends but to all she encounters.
I created this blog because there are so many loved ones who are reaching out for information about her treatment. In lieu of contacting our family or her directly, please check this blog for the latest info on her recovery process.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Mikaela Price

Hi friends.
Mom has been down a bumpy road with this most recent round of chemotherapy. As of last night she is slowly starting to come out of her chemo fog. She took a tumble out of bed around midnight last night and today we ventured to an Opthamologist and then she had to get a CT Scan of her eye, which she hit when she landed on the windowsill.
Praise God the light is peaking through the tunnel and even though today was busy, she is in good spirits and seems to be gaining strength.
We are waiting to hear from her doctor whether or not a CT scan of her abdomen will happen to see if she is ready for surgery, or whether a third round of chemo is necessary. Please pray with us that she can move into the surgical phase of treatment and be done with chemo.
There was a horribly scary side effect with this last round that caused her to lose her speech and she was non verbal for a little over 9 hours.  Thank God for a seasoned nurse, Esther, who recognized what was happening and immediately brought it to doctors attention. Methylene Blue literally reversed the damage in her brain ( it was neutotoxicities from chemo) and brought my sweet Mama back to us. We have never been so happy to hear her talk.
As always, we appreciate your love and support during this difficult time. I will try to update as often as I can, when there is something new.
Thanks for reading,
Mikaela
