Newest Update

Journal entry by Sara Willen

My parents are both back at home in Mariposa since October 7th. She is doing really well, getting physically stronger everyday and healing and just so happy to be able to walk, talk, read & live! Dad is keeping busy with friends and outdoor work and taking good care of mom. This is a message from her posted to Facebook on October 14. Much love to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Sara

Indeed, I thank everyone who prayed, sent cards or food during this time of my brain surgery. I truly am exceeding all of my own expectations. I still have hair, can speak, move and think w. o. assistance. We all expected that I would be a semi-invalid having to relearn ordinary tasks. The amazing team of drs at Stanford took out 70-80% of the tumor and the part that remains is low grade, slow growing and very treatable. That treatment, if any, won’t happen until the end of Nov. when I have healed from surgery and the neuro. team and we decide what path to take. Our great God has performed another miracle and I thank HIM a million times a day! I have had very little pain, and sleep often but I’m going to physical therapy, doing some cooking and housekeeping tasks along with short walks to build my strength. I can’t drive until drs stop the anti seizure meds but Earl happily drives me around. We are so grateful to live in this little community of Mariposa where I taught so many of you.  Once again, I thank everyone for their prayers and positive thoughts during this ordeal and my recovery. I AM BLESSED!
