Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep Jack, Jenn, Matt, Sara and Henry and all of our family and friends in our hearts and updated in one place. Thank you so much for caring and for visiting. Charlie Gillis...grandson, son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend...was on the short end of a tragic automobile accident on Monday afternoon, September 26. He was returning to his University of Kansas campus after a wonderful weekend with his folks in St. Louis. He was rushed to the KU Medical Center in Kansas City where he remained on life support until his organs could be donated to multiple recipients. Our family is heart broken, but we are all grateful for the huge outpouring of love and kindness from extended family and friends. We pray for Charlie, his indomitable happy spirit, and all that he means to so many of us. Thanks for your incredible messages and wonderful thoughts of support. Charlie is a shining light for all of us.
The most amazing Thanksgiving gift arrived at the Gillis home this week from Lexi Smith when she came by to visit. This Charlie quilt brings together all of Charlie's special places and loves -- a one-of-a-kind creation that is a forever treasure. The t-shirt in the middle of the quilt is one that Charlie designed for MICDS's homecoming one year--1200 students and each faculty/staff member wore it together. Charlie continues to lift our hearts, our spirits and our extended Charlie-family every day. Thank you, Lexi. xoxoxo #happiestblessings #charliestrong #thankful
