Journal entry by Kate Tomeo

On April 15th Charlie was freed from his disease and peacefully passed away in our arms. The days before were some of the hardest as we witnessed him grow more tired each day and stop eating. They were also so memorable as we spent each day holding him, reading books, listening to music and telling him how much we love him. All of the nurses, doctors and staff went above and beyond to not only make sure Charlie never endured any pain,  but also providing us comfort and reflecting on some of their favorite Charlie moments.

We are so thankful for the two months we had with Charlie at home. He met family and friends, tried solid foods, went to his first (Covid friendly) party and even made it to a park. Those will forever be some of our favorite memories.

Charlie, you are incredible. We will always be in awe of your strength. Your smile will forever be on our minds and in our hearts. Know that we think of you each day and our love will never fade. We are so thankful for the eight months we had with you. Until we meet again baby boy.
