Journal entry by Jane Mattina

Happy Saturday All!

Charlene had a busy week of follow up visits.

Dr. Bolton (surgeon) is very happy with how active and healthy Charlene currently is. Her incision is healed nicely and he does not need any additional routine follow up with her.

He delivered Charlene's biopsy results to her at her follow up.
The good news: no cancer in the margins of the liver or the bile duct!
The not so good news: 1 of the 5 lymph nodes biopsied was positive for metastatic adenocarcinoma.

Charlene the met with Dr. Du (oschner oncologist) and Dr. Wall (local oncologist) who both agreed with the treatment plan. The plan is to start treatment 4 weeks after surgery.

Treatment plan:

IV and PO chemotherapy. IV chemo = Gemzar PO chemo = Xeloda.
Week 1: once a week IV infusion + daily PO
Week 2: once a week IV infusion + daily PO
Week 3: no treatment

this will be repeated 4 times. (so a total of 3 months)

She will then continue 5 weeks PO chemo coupled with radiation.

Alot to take in. Please continue your prayers and support.

We see Dr. Wall again in 2 weeks!
