Journal entry by Jill Guns

Hard to believe Chad has had his new lungs for 6 months now.  He continues to work hard every day.  Breathing exercises, and physical activity is at the top of his priority list.  Remembering back to last Summer, Chad struggled with most day to day tasks...this Summer has been much different, we have enjoyed many hikes, bike rides, a family wedding, watching baseball/volleyball/basketball games, and we topped it off with a vacation to Spooner, WI with the kids.  There were many moments where I would just sit back and watch him, truly was the best vacation ever!!  We are so thankful for his second chance on life.  Chad also was honored in his hometown this Summer.  Kewaunee, WI, is such a special town, so many kind people. They threw Chad one heck of a party!!  Thank you for all of the love and support...it sure was fun seeing so many people gather to celebrate and support our family.  Words can't describe the feeling we had on our way back to Sparta, after the celebration, we really felt ALL of the love, and we thank you!!
Chad started his 25th year teaching 5th through 8th grade SVLA, Sparta's Virtual Learning Academy.  I am in my 28th year of teaching, 25 of those being in Sparta.  Haydn is in his 3rd year at UWL, Ella is a senior, and Nate is a sophomore...Goodness time sure does fly by.  Chad and I feel lucky to be educators for the Sparta Area School District, the support we have been given the past few years is simply incredible!  Sparta is an exceptional Community, and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else!  Thank you ALL for the continued love and support!  Chad and I will continue to bring donation awareness...PLEASE CHOOSE TO DONATE, you too could save a life!  Love to you ALL!!!
