Hi Y'all,
I hope that everyone has been celebrating Chaddie and each other for the past few days. We've been snorkeling through underwater playgrounds, dragging Barb up massive ridges (sorry-not-sorry), and cooking excessive quantities of food. Christmas tradition in our family involves picking a country and making 5-10 dishes from that country. This year we picked the Philippines; the Kare-Kare, oxtail stew in peanut sauce, was the winning dish.
We are so lucky to have amazing people around us. A huge shout out to Nakoa Farrant and his mother Kim for putting us in touch with the Hobus family in Hawaii Kai, Oahu. We've been staying in an amazing house with a well equipped kitchen and gorgeous views of some gnarly mountains. It even came with a therapy dog! Thank you so much for all the kind words, photos, memories and stories over the past few days (I apologize to anyone who sent me messages, from the 16th-24th and didn't get a response. It turns out that phones are not fish and mine did not survive its underwater adventure- please send me those messages again as I would love to read/save them).
Two important items of information:
- We will gather for Chad Finn's Celebration of Life Ceremony/Party (Chadapalooza) at 1 pm on Saturday, January 18th in Corvallis, Oregon at the CH2M Hill OSU Alumni Center. A short program will start at 1:30 pm followed by a reception.
- We (Ian, Clara, and Elliott) want to eventually make a chronological book full of photos and stories (those well-known and less well-known, from childhood to college to professional-life and adult-life, small moments to big events). We've created an email to collect all of these and would appreciate if you could send/resend stories from 1 sentence to 30 pages to chad.finn.memories@gmail.com. Attachments (photos and videos) are encouraged!
