Journal entry by Cathy Milligan —
In March of 2020 I tried to make a doctor's appointment. Because of covid, they were all doing virtual visits only. I finally gave up and went to Urgent care. I was having pain in my stomach and on my right side. I was throwing up and extremely weak. The doctor said he thought it might be pacreatitis and refered me to the ER. I went to the ER and they did blood work and pancreatic and liver enzymes tests. They found nothing but high blood sugar and referred me to a primary care doctor. I went there where she prescribed Metformin and Metropolol. She said my pulse was very high. Resting rate was around 135. She suggested a cardiologist. I went there and they scheduled an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test. The Friday morning I was scheduled for the stress test, I woke up at 3:30am in severe pain and woke up my husband to take me to the emergency room. After blood work and a CT scan, the doctor came in and told me I have liver cancer. They asked if I wanted to be admitted and start treatment. I said yes and spent the next 5 days in the hospital undergoing every test in the world. A week after my release I started chemotherapy every 2 weeks and am currently coming up on round 16.
