Cathy’s Story

Site created on September 27, 2020

Welcome to Cathy’s CaringBridge website. Thank you for visiting. We are using this site to keep Cathy’s family and friends updated on her Journey all in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. ❤️❤️

On Sept. 11th Cathy was diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC)which is the most common form of breast cancer with a 90% survival rate. She had noticed a lump in her right breast which led her to the doctor to get it evaluated that resulted in the mentioned diagnosis.

On Sept 24th, Proceeded by her diagnosis, she had a CAT scan and Bone scan which were both negative for any metastasis. (Spreading of the cancer in adjacent tissues or other areas of the body) And then on Sept. 25th they placed a PORT, outpatient, which is a central line catheter just under her skin where they will administer 4 different types of Chemotherapy and other medications. Cathy will begin her Chemotherapy on Sept. 28th lasting for approximately 4 months.

Cathy had to quit her job on Sept. 20th while she prepares to fight her cancer head on. She resides with her significant other ,Brad, and they share a 7 year old daughter, Claire, that also lives at home with them. While Brad just started a new job they now have a loss of Cathy’s income. This time will be very hard and we ask for all the prayers, help, support, donations that you can do to make this life changing transition as easy as possible for Cathy and her family.

I will keep you updated with all the information possible and if there are any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out on this site or contact me at the number below. Please, I encourage you all to share thoughts, concerns, fears, feelings, resources, suggestions or anything else as we are all in this together and are here to support our friend. Thanks so much🙏🙏🙏

Sincerely,

Journal entry by Jennifer Larsen

I'm a little late posting last week's chemo session.  Since my last post Cathy has celebrated a birthday in addition to getting her last round (4/4) of the red devil.

This coming Monday Cathy will begin the next phase of chemo.  She will have 12 weekly rounds of Taxol.  Yes, that is 3 more months!  Please pray that Cathy handles this chemo well and that it does exactly what it is intended for and that is to shrink her tumor.  Today Cathy received her genetic BRACA results and they were negative which is a sigh of relief and that her prayers have been answered.

Cathy was able to pick up a little side gig recently that she can do from home.  If you are looking for some stylish new clothes check out Cathy's online boutique cathys.closetcandyboutique.com.  Check out the cute outfit Cathy is seen wearing in the photo from her online boutique.  Feel free to reach out to her with any questions.
