Journal entry by Catherine Bouie —
Hello,
I'm honestly not sure if anyone will read this, but if you are, thank you. It has been three years since I had my colon surgery. Each day I look at the long scar down the center of my stomach and the five incisions, I am reminded of what life is all about. I'm reminded that happiness, authentic connection, love, and life matter.
Over the last three years, a lot has changed. I've changed career paths, added six new certificates to my wall, passed the PMP, and was accepted into Grad School at the University of Denver studying Strategic Human Resources with a concentration in HR Operations.
I joined HR around five months ago, and I finally feel like I see a future career centered around people. I get to help ensure that employees are at the center of HR choices, and I hope to continue to influence decisions as I learn and grow in my career. The next three years will be about learning, building the beautiful connections I have fostered, and continuing to mentor the people who come into my life.
As we approach the end of 2023, I hope the rest of your year is full of love and light.
Until next time.
Catherine Elizabeth
