Theme Song

Well here we go!!!

So many good omens surrounded me yesterday for surgery and today for first day of recovery, allow me to explain!

Going into the day the numerous texts, comments, posts, prayers and stop byes were overwhelming. I felt like I had an army by my side (I felt like I belonged on Game of Thrones).

So in Preop, every singles friggin person that came in to do their job was awesome. Positive energy, good vibes, just great overall team and it was a big team. I wanted to invite them all out for beers!

Kenny and I are in the room alone for a second and all of a sudden I hear my theme song coming out of his phone. It’s Chumbawumba’s

“I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again, You’re

Never Gonna Keep Me Down”

OMG the significance of this is huge. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer 21 years ago, the day pathology came back (a few days after surgery) we found out it had spread to some lymph nodes. I’m devastated and lying in bed thinking the worst.  My door flings open and in comes Carlee Wilson age 6 and Cole Wilson age 5 followed by Kenny with a boom box on his shoulder.  This song is blasting out of it and all 3 are dancing around my bed.  INSTANT THEME SONG...and, of course, how could I NOT get up again!

So here we are not quite knowing who was throwing the punches but there is no way I was going down and staying down.

In a nutshell here’s what he found:

*The tumor was 18 inches long! (Approximately 2 1/2 x larger than they originally thought)...hence Go Big or Go Home!

*Need to wait until pathology to find out weight.

Hoping it comes back tomorrow but might be too early.

*Tumor is not benign (shoot) but completely self contained. With just a dusting of residual cells. Chemo should take care of those easily.

*Not sure if it’s Ovarian or Breast (probably Breast but he said one is not preferred over the other). Both have protocols that will handle that dusting.

*Recovery time for surgery is approximately 6 weeks.

*In hospital until Sat or Sun

The funny part is the Surgeon said I’d be too out of it for visitors and wouldn’t remember anything. Well evidently I’ve developed quite a knack for recovering from general anesthesia because everything post recovery is clear as a bell and we had a blast w conversations and taking pictures!

Btw. Those who know the story of my progressive surgeries and sizes of crowns can appreciate what Connie Blythe Johnston delivered to me this morning...hence again...GO BIG OR GO HOME! Honestly, I think I’m going to need to bedazzle a neck support!

Once again my posse continues to have my back with love, humor and help.

And all of your endless prayers, love, juju and support makes me realize, once again, you can knock me down but watch out, cause I’m not staying down!
