Oh, dear God why this? Why Carter? Why now? Leila, my most fervent prayers will be for you, my friend. We all know how much a mom is the heart of the family, and with all the other weights and responsibilities you carry, I will pray that you can extricate yourself enough to take the role and the path that you feel led to do. You and Chuck are the two strong pillars most needed now. May you continue to lean on each other and somehow see your way forward with this.

Thank you for doing CB to keep everyone posted as we walk with you in spirit.

I will be thinking of you every day, Carter...and for a short while as you recover, miss your announcement to the entire LMC campus that "Betsy is onboard!" as I trundle through the gate, ready to face the challenges of the day. When the time moves slowly and builds with layers of increasing aggravation, you step out from around a corner. You come over and 'invade' my space, doing and saying something that makes all of the fog disappear and puts a smile back on my face. It has become my turn to rotate that table. Best beware of my unleashed spirit smothering you in the coming weeks...I can not exactly sound like you or act like you, or come up with your crazy-silly comments, but all of us together will create a force that can not fail to keep you on the road to healing the mind and the body XOXO.
