Journal entry by Emily Gilileo

24 weeks a milestone we are so thankful to have reached. Since this is my first journal entry I'll go back a few weeks and explain why we are here. At 18 weeks and 4 days I woke up and realized I had leaked fluids through out the night. A pretty big amount my pants were soaked. I went to the hospital where they ran test to see if I was leaking amniotic fluid, they came back negative. I was relieved but still concerned I knew I wasn't far enough along to be having bladder problems. The following morning it happened again. I called my doctor and went to his office to have them run another test, it came back negative as well. At this point I was confused as to what these fluids were but trusting my doctor I went along with the results. A week passed and I went in for my 20 week anatomy scan. So excited I get to see our baby now and his growth. My mother and fiancé went with me. We went in the ultrasound room and I knew something was wrong, I was then told I had no amniotic fluid. I was sent to a specialist who was just as confused as we were. We were told it was one of two things, PPROM-Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes or our sweet baby boy had something wrong with his kidneys. Our baby boy is 100% healthy his organs are working and he is measuring a week ahead. So it left us with PPROM. I had been tested multiple times at this point with every test coming back negative for fluid. My specialist decided to treat it as PPROM. I was given a set of antibiotics and sent home on bed rest until our sweet boy reached viability at 23 weeks. I was then sent to the hospital and I will remain here until I deliver. Our goal is 35 weeks. I'm so thankful and blessed God has got us to 24 weeks with a healthy baby. We are continuing to fight and put all of our trust in God.
