Carol Jean’s Story

Site created on August 8, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

Carol Jean has so many friends, far and wide. We created this site to keep all of you up to date on her recent health challenges while CJ focuses on her health and well-being. She will read messages left here and especially appreciates jokes!

A wise friend of CJ's that has had her own cancer journey told CJ that she found it helpful to ask friends to remember the following three rules:

1. Don't ask how I am.
2. Don't tell me how I look.
3. Make me laugh!

Carol Jean loves hearing from her friends.  As you can imagine it can be overwhelming to answer questions from so many people who truly love and care for her. So come here for updates.  And send those jokes!

Journal entry by Liz Loos

Tuesday, January 11:  Within 24 hours, I’ve had 2 joyful events :

1. At 4:40 pm Monday, a considerate nurse called me with an excellent pathology report.  The 2 lymph nodes taken during surgery were negative and the margins around the incision were clear.  The report confirmed the cancer was Metaplastic.

2.  Today, Tuesday, this same nurse very gently pulled the 2 drain tubes from my left side.  I feel like I’ve been freed from bondage.

There’s been a noticeable uptick in my energy level since my final chemo infusion December 15.  Just recently I’ve been able to focus again on reading.  So today the sun is really shining.

Grateful for your friendship -
