Journal entry by Carol Gagliardi —
So, again a little late... we finally had our video appointment with the transplant Dr. We talked through all of it. The liver problem is definitely Gvhd. Not typical.. but it can happen. He feels good about all blood work and everything else. He said your bloodwork looks great! Bone marrow biopsy all good! No signs of cancer❤️🙏🏻👍
He said well, happy 1 year! I know it’s been hard and you threw me more curveballs than Carey Wood! (Clearly a Cubs fan)
He said 1 year is a huge milestone . You made it! He said I will need to follow you a little more closely than I normally would after 1 year because of this liver thing. But, enzymes are going down. We will do bloodwork on Monday, 1week, if they keep going down, we can start the taper off 100 Mg of prednisone.
We feel hopeful and once again, a light at the end of this long tunnel!
Now we need to start to manage normal health issues like normal people do. Cholesterol, colonoscopy, you know...
We have much to be thankful for. It’s not been easy but, here we are. Joe is starting to feel a little more normal too. Balance. Sleep, exercise, pain management, stress management...
Thanks for your support throughout!
It’s never over I think!
