Carly’s Story

Site created on June 24, 2022

Carly was born on August 1st 2019, so she is 3 years old 💗. She has always been a ball of energy! She loves learning at school and playing with her friends and cousins. Mickey and Minnie Mouse have been huge staples in our house. She has taken her little Mickey with her everywhere for about 2 years now, haha. She just started swim lessons and now loves to go swimming! Recently, at the end of May she got a chest cold. After a couple of days of the cold, she woke up one day and wouldn’t walk. We took her to the pediatrician and had an X-ray and blood work done. The doctors concluded that it was just a virus and to keep giving her Tylenol and Motrin. She got better, but didn’t really return to her normal self. She developed weird bruises on her back and a stiff neck, so we had a video doctors appointment. He put in orders to redo her blood work. On June 20th 2022, she woke up and wouldn’t walk again, so we tried to go to the doctor and hospital to redo the blood work. Due to a holiday, everything was closed except for the ER, so thankfully that’s where we ended up! In the ER, there were some red flags on her blood work, so the doctor did an MRI. The MRI showed signs of leukemia, so they transferred us that day to Texas Children’s in downtown Houston. At Texas Children’s they did some tests and confirmed that she has ALL. We have been so thankful for all of the love and support that we are receiving! We are truly so grateful 💗. She’s such a strong and amazing little girl, but we know she has a long journey ahead of her! Please continue to pray for Carly 💗!!!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Charlotte Carp —

Hi All, Carly finished all of her treatments for the phase we are on this past Monday! She been doing really well. We’ve only had one ER visit this month, and they let us go home that night so it was a short one, thankfully! We get a little break until March 17th, when she will start her last phase! She still has so much energy and is continuing to play, play, play 💗💗💗!

This next phase goes on 84 day cycles. At the beginning of the phase she’ll get a spinal tap and then get her regular drip chemo medicine. Additionally, she will take steroids for the first 5 days, a chemo pill for all 84 days, and then another different chemo pill once a week. This will be her last phase, yay! We will continue these 84 day cycles until September 2024.

Thank you guys for the continued love, support, and prayers! We appreciate every single one of you!!! We are getting close to actually being able to be around people again in normal way! Lol … we are almost there!
