Carla’s Story

Site created on June 4, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I would like to begin by giving you a little history of how we ended up here. A few days ago, she started having a little difficulty with word finding and repeating her thoughts. We got her in right away, and she was transferred to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.  After having an MRI, a 3-4 cm mass was discovered in her left temporal lobe. It is causing a midline shift, which is the reasoning for her expressive dysphasia (difficulty with word finding). She does not have any strength loss at this time, and thankfully, she has not had any headaches either. It is suggestive of a primary brain tumor or glioblastoma. We are hoping to meet with the surgeon sometime today to have a more concrete plan. If you know Carla, she of course, is worrying about everyone else.  We are all praying, and she says she is in God's hands, so we appreciate all of your love, support, and especially prayers.

Words cannot express how appreciative we are for all the love, support, giving, time, flowers, and memorials we have received with mom’s passing. Thank you, thank you!

Several people have reached out wondering about associations we would like donations/memorials to go toward. This is something I guess we didn’t think of prior to her passing. We have decided on two, even though there have been others already, that were also very fitting for her! Thank you!

1. Northwood Deaconess Health Center and Hospital. We find this very fitting due to the fact she dedicated her life, for decades, to this facility. They also took superb care of her in her dying days.

2. Pray for Gray, which is a North Dakota nonprofit brain tumor organization. Their goal is to spread awareness of brain tumors, help area survivors and families, and fund new research.

Like I said I said, there have been other very fitting memorials as well, and we just appreciate the thoughtfulness. Thank you!
