Newest Update

Journal entry by Estuardo Salazar

Dear Friends,
I would like to ask you to allow me to continue sending updates for a few more weeks. If possible, I would like to continue sending them until I return to Guatemala, and we have celebrated a service thanking the Lord for Linda’s life in our home church. This would bring some closure to this difficult stage in our lives.  Feel free to unsubscribe from this site if you don’t want to continue hearing from us.

I am thankful for:
  1. On Friday the 31st of March we had the service celebrating Linda’s life and it was a very special time praising the Lord and honoring Linda’s memory.  There were around 70 people, 35 of them came from out of town, even all the way from Guatemala, there were also some members of the medical team that we have mentioned in our previous updates. One hundred and thirty seven people watched the service live through Internet and up to today, 563 had watched the recording in YouTube. This makes me so happy because it reminds me, once again, how loved Linda has been. If you were not able to watch the transmission and would like to do it, the video is still available through the following link: https://youtube.com/live/f2zygwjwK98?feature=share
  2. The Lord’s faithfulness not only during Linda’s treatments but during this last week after she passed away. We have seen the Lord’s interventions in small and big situations.
  3. The support that the boys have received in their grief process, from friends, workmates, and church.
  4. I am very thankful for the privilege of being married to Linda for 31 years and serving her during the last 2 years and a half when we were fighting for her health.
  5. The time I could spend with different members of Linda’s family on Friday for the service and on Saturday.

Please pray for:
  1. For this very difficult process where I am trying to learn how to live without Linda.  There are so many simple details that trigger deep feelings of nostalgia. This morning I attended the Baptist Church and this afternoon the Presbyterian church that have been so supportive to us in Houston. It was overwhelming to be in church without Linda and miss her because of the lack of those small details that she used to have towards me, like holding hands while praying, hearing her voice singing next to me, etc.
  2. Derek, Christian and Mauro, in their own grief processes.
  3. The different situations that I have to solve before heading back to Guatemala.
  4. For the return to Guatemala and restructure the life that once Linda and I built together.

Thank you for walking with us.
