This is Kristi. On any given day you can find her having some type of adventure. She loves to hike, be on a boat, sit by the pool, bike, and laugh with her friends and family. This amazing woman is also my mom and on August 15th she surprised me with a trip to Twin Falls which resulted in her getting in a horrible bike accident.
After staying many nights alone at a hospital in Idaho, we were finally able to get her back home to Provo, Utah where we are preparing her for leg surgery on Monday (August 24th). The doctors have told us that she will be in an immense amount of pain and that her break will take around 6 months to heal. In addition, they have told her that eventually, she will need a total knee replacement but that she will most likely have to wait a year for that surgery in order for her leg to be ready.
This news broke my mom. Due to a hard divorce, she has lived on her own for a while but was finally becoming emotionally whole again. Emotional healing is hard but now she will be going through a new sort of healing that comes with different challenges.
One of the biggest burdens to us right now is finances. Although we have been working with our insurance, there are many things that our insurance won't cover. This goal of 18,000 will help cover the cost of surgery, hospital visits, physical therapy appointments, out of pocket maximum and general cost of living. Any amount would make a difference. If you can't give at this time feel free to share this with your friends and offer prayers.
Thank you,
Abby

Newest Update

Journal entry by Abby Aase

Hi everyone,
Sorry it has been a second since the last update. On Wednesday afternoon mom was taken to a short term care rehab facility here in Orem. It is a really nice place and they specialize in short term care. We are not sure how long she will be there yet but it could be up to 6 weeks. Fingers crossed it is not that long.
Although we are so grateful to have mom in a place where she can get stronger, it's a hard place to be because there are no visitors allowed. Please continue to pray that she does well with physical therapy and we can get her home soon.
