Cara’s Story

Site created on January 21, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
I have been diagnosed with Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma that was found in a groin lymph node while trying to find out why my right leg has been swollen for 6 months.  All the testing has not been able to reveal the source, but it is in a few more lymph glands.  The Oncologist tells us that it is a "good" stage 4 and that it's treatable!  They are doing Molecular testing to see if chemo or Immunotherapy would be the best treatment.  First indications are Immunotherapy will be the best, but all the testing is not complete.  In the meantime, I will have chemo treatments every 3 weeks for 6 treatments.
I will keep you posted as to how I'm doing and what the effects are.  Hopefully, I will skate through this and this bad dream will be over!!
Your love and prayers will get me through!  Feel free to text and email, and phone calls are always appreciated!
Love and blessings,

I am so very blessed!! It's amazing what a visit with great friends we haven't seen in a year & a visit to hug 5 of our grandkids can do for my emotional & mental well-being!
After a great appointment with my Oncologist that all is well & labs are good, I'm sitting here while getting my treatment feeling grateful! It's been over a year since I was diagnosed & I haven't had any new activity of my cancer. I may never be in remission but no new activity is the best news ever!
Getting back to my church choir & singing on Easter Sunday was the greatest gift ever! I had forgotten the blessings singing in the choir brought me. Thank you, God!
Your prayers, love & support are what keeps me going! My rock, Rick, loves me unconditionally & is so patient with my ups & downs. Thank you to all of you who love & support me & are my cheerleaders!
We're planning trips to see family & friends! We have a lot of hugs to catch up on!
Get your Covid vaccines & get safe so the world can breathe safely again!
Love & blessings,
